I saw the part for the recall. Just 1 valve cover gasket. Getting done today.

Read the other posts about this and there was varying concern about what all was being replaced, wire looms etc. Looks like the only thing they are replacing is the front VC gasket so we shall see.
If all else fails, throw money at it..... that'll fix it.

You should also have them remove the front exhaust manifold heat shield and leave it off or clean it out and reinstall it. Or you could do it yourself if you have the tools.

I have one(01 GTP). How does recall work? Even if the vehicle isnt under warranty I still could get the work done for free?

Fill me in on this recall business

Well it was done. Only thing they did was replace the front vc gasket. Nothing else. Dont get the smoke smell now when I stop hard.

Gasket looked thicker than the old one too.

Well from experience it takes me about 30 minutes to do it. so take that for what it's worth.and i have only had the valve cover off to chage the actual gasket 1 time. now i have had it off for other things but not to change the valve gasket...rockers ect. what im saying is the dealer should be able to do it quicker
