Work, work, and more work has kept me away from all forums for a very long time. Since I have the day (sorta) off and no chance of taking the gtp out for any fun drives (glare ice everywhere) I thought I would ask a question I've been meaning to ask for a long time.

Where do I stand with my current setup:

    Headers
1.9 ratio modified rockers with 90# springs are GM LS6 (yellow springs)
    SS intercooler with flojet pump
Ported supercharger - custom, no idea on quality here.
    3.5/3.1/2.85" mps
Headers (test set from that one guy in MN. that I think stopped making them)
    Cat and U bend removed
    Custom CAI with cone filter
    42.5# Lucas Injectors -Flow matched
Good old DHP PowerTuner - Tuned by me -
    1 heat range colder plugs
PRJ Ignition Wires and the alternator re-wire

I have been tuning based on the maf trying to get everything close to 0 (-3 to 2) and then messing with A/F ratio and timing at WOT (keeping KR below 1 at all times and never if at all possible). I noticed a huge seat of the pants upgrade when the 1.9s went in. Now I'm not sure what else to tune and where the optimal shift point would be for my current setup (I'm at about 6100 right now)

I also have access to one of the best mechanics ever who I think is on this forum, but might not be anymore (he ran a turbo setup for awhile that was amazing).

    Questions:
    1. How does my setup look?
    2. Anything I missed as far as smaller/complimenting mods?
    3. Any guesses as to what kind of power/quarter mile times I might be looking at?
    4. How should I go about tuning at this point for both cruising efficiency and WOT power.
    5. Any other comments/thoughts/questions?

    unless you switch out something:

    1) rockers for a cam
    2) SSIC for a fullsize

then youre pretty much limited on how much further you can go. id say with the right driver you'd be consistent low 13s, maybe high 12s with a good amount of traction. power wise is always different, but i would only assume you'd maybe hit 275whp on a perfect day.

for tuning you want to shoot for as high of timing as you can run cruising and part throttle you should still be at around 20-25* of timing depending upon where it starts knocking. this will help with gas mileage and the ability to feel the car running well at part throttle. for WOT i normally recommend 18* and whatever pulley you can run with it, but i am weird and like to run stock timing (16*) and more boost. your shift points are probably fine where they are now, if not a little high.

good call. i bet your AFR is still way off tuning off the narrowband.

    1. I didn't want to do cam with all the expense associated with it and overall drivability.
    2. Pretty much same as part one. I had a friend go full size so I went with his ss since I hadn't really thought about going with an IC anyway.

How high is too high though? I have been upping my cruising Timing to upwards of 38* at 2200rpm (80mph) when at 5-10% throttle and as much as KR lets me with more throttle.

Running about 15-16* wot timing right now with the small pulley (2.85).

Thank you for making my day on the potential ability to run low 13s. pre-rockers I got my butt handed to me by a lightly modded ~2004 305-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 Mustang (modded after the stock 305, I think intake and maybe cat back only). So that made me think I might not be anywhere near 320 crank hp.

    no wideband?
I might need to know more here... I have seen a wideband, but never used it to tune. I'm guessing this is only for WOT tuning as we can't change the A/F before PE?

ps. Thanks for super fast replies!

yeah, a wideband is best used for WOT tuning, but it's nice to watch at other times just to keep the car in check. the difference between 12.0 AFR and 11.5 AFR is crazy amounts of power. normally people on a narrowband tune will have an AFR way off from being as lean as they should be.

    fueling > timing > boost.

So you suggest trying to lean up wot and sacrifice both timing and boost? I thought boost would overtake those when it came to average tuning. Now I need just a bit more convincing to throw the 3.1" back on and see what I can do...

right now youre probably using more fuel than you need to because youre forcing overfueling to run the pulley you have on the car. 2.8 is normally cam/intercooler area if not heads as well. i bet if you put a bigger pulley on, lean it out, itll be faster.

Might have to give that a shot on a 3.1 then. Thanks for the tip. Never had it shown from that point of view. I appreciate it.

the only reason i say that is because of this that you said:

messing with A/F ratio and timing at WOT (keeping KR below 1 at all times and never if at all possible)

Dang you guys are good. I finally had time to tune on the 3.15" pulley after leaning it out quite a bit. WOW - Talk about more lower end power with no lack of power at 6k! I have timing up at 16-17* and it runs stronger than ever. 0-60 is now more of an exercise maintaining traction instead of willing the car to go faster. I appreciate all your suggestions and help once again.
