What does the lower intake manifold have to do with your valves? Your valves are in the head. Also, there are tons of holes in the Lower Intake.

thanks Blue, and changing all the gaskets is easier said then done. PS my mysterious noise its slightly getting louder by the daySunday just cannot come quick enough
Nothing, i was just saying that if he were to get his lower intake manifold gasket replaced he should do it him self cuz its not hard, and then i spouted off the problems with my car no need to be a grouch. Also the hole in my intake manifold isnt a normal one or i would have never mentioned it
its no problem at all, do you have a GTP? and if so how long did it take you to swap out gaskets??? because honestly, with the amount of driving i do, over maintencing my car couldn't hurt to bad
Ya i have a 98 gtp with 196*** miles it sucks i know but just start by getting all the parts you need like gaskets oil and coolant, then if you have a day off you could possibly get it done i got my motor down to the block in a few hours its not bad just drain all the oil and coolant and start unbolting and remember where stuff goes and you got it. im just waiting for my heads and ported lower intake now and ill be done... hopefully
damn thats a lil over 100K more then i got... gives me hope haha, i def. wanna rebuild the block this time next year cause by that time i should be lookin at anywhere between 130 & 140K so if its just an intake manifold gaskets thats not too bad but i wanna stay away from the head gaskets till the time comes![]()
You don't have to rebuild anything in the block as long as it runs...only thing you'll really need is a new timing chain/timing chain dampner/front & rear cover gasket/front main seal/and a accumulator in the oil filter housing from an '04+ car so it bumps oil pressure by about 5-10 psi.
You'll be golden.
alright, duly noted, and plus I'm thinking of building up the block when its out, not too much just pretty mild prolly some better pistons/crank or something in that neighborhood
You really need to read. Or just send me your money and get the same benefit.
i just want to build up the block just enough so i can beat the balls out of it and have no worries, i plan on saving my money to get a faster car or some 4x4 of sorts, i know how to make this car fast, im just not interested in that, i just want to keep it alive for forever
you need a good tune then
a tune is in the near future... but first i need to identify and solve these issues before any fun is to be had![]()
as in tune once a season and after every single mod.
That way... you're less likely to blow it up due to small changes.
Also if something fails like an injector, you need to be aware of it immediately and not beat on it else you'll destroy the engine.
And so on...
Is your brake wear indicator making this noise?
![]()
1. Make your own threads
2. Yes
could be that as well, cause the brakes are pretty shot... i feel like an idiot now lol
12" upgrade boss.
oh u don't know how bad i want to. but ill probably end up doing these first: Cross Drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors Front and Rear - eBay (item 220702792162 end time Dec-27-10 10:10:24 PST)
had them on my last car and they aren't junk, theyre like the speed daddy headers, it all comes down to the seller![]()
Ok, so got my new brakes put on today and my noise seems to have gone away. So i'm crossing my fingers and hoping that it's going to stay that way, I also did a coolant flush and replaced a bad hose and my heat seems to work a little better. So If all goes as planned i'll have good working car for the first time in a long time![]()
