yeah i guess i'll have to go through all the basics. I just changed the fuel filter yesterday, I'm gonna have the injectors cleaned within the next two weeks or so. I'll also buy a used MAF here then i'll also check the pressure on the fuel line then on to the spark side until it gets fixed.
I guess i don't have much choice. But thanks on the advice with the coils that's an easy thing that i'll check tomorrow.
I would check MAF sensor. Autozone can check it, or you can check it if you have a way to put 5V reference signal to it. Then measure output voltage, note reading, blow through it and voltage should change. Seem like Autozone used a 6V battery lantern battery for power source.
Voltage shouldnt change.... these mafs operate on frequency.
see PWM.
Ok so I finally replaced the MAF and put the TB screen back (I didn't had one before), but to my misfortune, the problem is still there. It didn't change at all =( So since it's basically going to be a trial and error approach from now on I would like to hear your opinion guys on which part to do next.
So far I've done:
New AL104s
new fuel filter
replaced MAF
replaced TB screen
new oxygen sensor
no CAT
spark plug wires are like a year old
no SES codes, no missfires in idle.
I'm thinking on having the injectors cleaned next and checking the pressure on the fuel line, how much should it be at for these cars?
Thanks!
did u fix your issue yet?? i have exact same hesitation.... I cant find one person whos fixed it yet haha
my car does the same thing, it feels like its breaking up around 6k and then for another second after shifting. I have replaced plugs, wires, removed the cat, cleaned the injectors, new air filter, and cleaned the MAF. The only other thing that i haven't done is replace the fuel filter and thats only because i cant get it off lol. Maybe today i'll finally cut the line off and replace the fuel filter and see if that helps![]()
Problem fixed for me, it was the fuel filter and also good luck making those bends if you have to cut it lol
Mine is doing the same thing the thing with mine is that I shortened ther gap on the plugs from .06 to around .052 and it was gone but I did that while I did something else then I re-gapped therm to .06 a couple days later and the problem came back so I'm gunna buy new plugs and see if that helps
It's not yet fixed. I bought a new set of spark plug wires, my plugs were already gapped to .052 but I actually moved them back to .055 to see how it worked. I did both things, the wires and gap at the same time and it improved a little, but the problem is still there.
I did change the fuel filter a while ago. The mechanic recommended I changed the spark plugs again, that one of them could be faulty and to check the coils, he did say that he would stick to the ignition side before checking any further on the fuel side. So I'm going to buy new plugs and a single new coil and test it by replacing one by one and see if it's fixed at some point.
Well I fixed my problem today. I replaced my plugs and gapped them to the right gap and runs fine. The ones that were in the car were the AT xp 606 plugs and I replaced them with AT douple platinum 606's. But I just found a new problem today that happened to poke its head out. I shut the car off with the vent on number 3 setting so I started the car the sameway. After driving for a mile I noticed my DIC is black and my lights arnt on the dash cuz my automatic light sensor isn't working so they're on all the time. So by conincidence I turn the vent off and wow my lights are on and the DIC is on just a bit dimmer.. Oh man I'm gunna post a new thread and takes some pics of my engine bay its amazing. Fuze box platic is bubbled, sensor plug ends bubbled, throttle cable plastic coating is melted, I think I'm starting realize why. It seriously looks like the engine bay was in a fire with all the bubbled plastic just nothing else
update:
So I got the cam installed with the 3.25 pulley and was hoping that the problem would go away with it, but it didn't, I changed the spark plugs today for TR6's with .055 gap now and the problem is now gone. I'm not sure if the AL104's were not cold enough for the 3.4 setup or maybe one of the plugs was defective. They didn't have any physical damage that I could see, but anyway... the problem is finally gone.
Update....I fixed my issue,,, it was a short,,, previous owner replaced the plugs and wires,,, and a few weeks that's when I bought it,,, then later on the metal on the o2 sensor got hot was shorting out on the rear drivers side plug wire, as they were touching. So I fixed the plug wire and tied them back from each other. thanks for all the help anyhow.
