    Hello friends,

I have a 06 grand prix gt supercharged with 46k miles. It drives awesome, just that when i pedal to the medal, it doesnt GO like it should. the RPM stops at 3000 and goes up and down from 2800 or 3200 RPM. I can feel the engine not wanting to rev anymore and the check engine light turns on and blinks for about 5-10 times before it turns off.

    I need help please!!!

Just replace the plugs, then the wires if it's still doing it. Chances are the previous owner never changed them since it's so new. I went through the same thing. If the plugs or wires don't do it then get it scanned.

Blinking SES light means a catalyst damaging fault is occurring. You can really screw things up with that. Get it to a dealership or other mechanic and have it fixed.

do the very first thing u should and give it a tune up..spark plugs and spark plug wires. ac delco...had the same thing with a 98 gtp....also the blinking ses light is a misfire...look at the old plugs and see if any of them look really white....keep note of what cylinder it came from. let us know...

Blinking SES isn't just from a bad cat. It COULD be a bad cat causing the misfire...most likely...its plugs and wires. Could be your MAF too...unplug it and see if it still does it.

I just bought the car and replaced one plug that was cut. This blinking CES light only comes on when i step HARD on the gas pedal, but if im just driving normal in the highway i can go up to 90mph w/out any problem, thats of course if I dont step hard on it.

I will just be taking it to ASE Mechanic and have them check it out. Since i just bought the car at 44,xxx miles and it had delphi plugs, im not sure if they were recently changed but when i carfaxed it it was takin care of, because it was on a maintenance check every now and then.

( Are Delphi the OEM plugs for the '06 grand prix's? )

A blinking light is a misfire. At least save yourself some money and change out the plugs before spending the money for a mechanic.

Just go to a parts store and tell them what car you have and get replacement plugs and wires. Then put them on. You will save yourself hundreds of dollars.

I would have done that today if it was as easy as it sounds. Unfortunatly, im not really informed about how to change these spark plugs. i know wat they are and where they are, but i can reach down to the back and the wires on the back of the engine.

Remove the two upper engine mounts on the front of the engine, then pull it forward with a ratchet strap.

You don't even need to do that. I don't even think that I use an extension on the back.

I've never done a repair on my mar other then installing a light bulb LOL. I have a clue on what im doing but not really sure wats steps to take and how to start.

I was thinking tomorrow morning to get it scanned FIRST, then go from there. I would really love to do it myself but i would need like detailed write which i couldnt find anywhere.

just to update. I got my car scanned at AutoZone, they read NO codes. There is no check engine light on and the worker said it would read no codes unless the engine light is on.

my car drives perfectly, just only when i 'pedal to the medal' it seems to misfire, but if i punch the gas half way, it revs up pretty nicely.

I will look more into this later because i know its not a big issue. No engine light and it only does this when i floor it. i guess i just gotta give my supercharger a break until i notice more syptoms.

Just replace the plugs and wires already lol. I don't think that having a misfire like that will set a code, only flash the light.

3/8's ratchet, 3" extension and 5/8's spark plug socket will get all of them done and you dont need to disconnect anything.

ok guys, i know everyone is just thinking im Stupid for not going right away to do spark plugs and wires. BUT, the problem is first of all i cant do it myself, the back 3 i tried and are just too far to get to. So yesterday i was speeding to the beach when my engine light started to blink again, but this time, it stayed on. I just took it to autozone and it had the code what i believe was P0305 (5th piston misfire) I replaced it, and erased the code of my car. And now its back to full power.

I dont have enough money right now to do plugs/wires so thats y i just did one wire.
