What is needed to run a NIC cam? Id assume a set of rockers springs, headers, and an Intercooler would be the best place to start. Any one have any idea what pulley to run and what kind of #'s have been put down with this cam?

I think the NIC is over rated. We just made 344whp 377wtq on a non-intercooled S1X...

NIC is basically a 'show off' cam. you run it to run stupid small pulleys when you really dont need to. it can make power, but its not an all out power cam.

what are you looking for with your car as far as amount of power and powerband?

Looking to for sure Intercool roller rocker, headers, and drop at least one pulley size on my Buick when I get home. Id like to stick a cam in and I'll likley take Bios advice and drive to WI for a tune. Is anyone having any problems running say a XP cam and say maybe 1.9 rockers? I plan on stickin around a 2k for engine parts plus I found a block Im trying to get someone at home to get off craigslist for me. Basically Im looking for the best 2k worth of parts combo. My questions about the NIC were because it sounded so D@mn good!! from the vid on streetfire I watched.

You'd be just fine with a XP or S1X and supporting valvetrain...if you weren't going IC I'd say get a stupid big cam...

2 guys ive learnd to respect and trust they know what the H3LL their talking about Bio and Bluegtp91, why do both of you say dont run a NIC cam and intercooler?? why Intercooler should help reduce knock not matter what the rest of the setup is right?? Or should I just forget the IC and go for a big cam like Blue suggested?? I want to stick around 2k for parts, the work I'll do myself or pay for a shop to do. So 2k budget whats going to be the best route to go?

you will have some interesting "problems" yes.
I think you'd need a little headwork even to run 1.7 rockers AND an XP to realize the potential. You're better off stepping up to a bigger cam instead of cam AND rockers unless you throw in heads...

    NIC = never inter cool.

Its basically for people who dont want to mod their car much more than a cam and some exhaust mods and want an agressive idle and to go fast.

    See 12's.

Big cam wont make power without ported heads.

And heads are costly, but worth while if you're going to be modding much.

2k doing it your self and 2k having a shop do it is one hell of a difference.

Read what I said earlier I said 2k for parts! I have access to a full shop with a lift. I didnt say 2k including labor. The only reason I mentioned a shop at all is for machining or head work. So let me restate Im looking for the best route to go for with 2k worth of parts. Im not worried about the cost of putting it all together like gaskets misc. crap that always pops up. Im not including tuning either I also said before I will likely take Bios advice and drive to WI since their isnt anyone reputable/good tuners around me I live in ND. Matt said NIC = never intercool, decent way to put it but how reliable, what pulley and how much knock with out some kind of cooling. spinning the SC faster will certian cause heat their for I think a I/C is a good route to even start with.

For 2k in parts I would do:
    headers
    fs intercooler
    tuner
    pulley drop
port the superchager and tb while I had them off
and the other misc things t-stat, plugs etc. All said and done that would bring you close to 2k.

    Post above is pretty solid.

Local labour rate is around $90-100 an hour and a cam is supposed to be 10 hours of labor according to shopkey.

Though seeing this says labour must be cheap down there:

    Prj. Performance - Services

    L67/L36/L32 Cam 11 Hours $550.00

I agree this is prolly the route I'll be going but should have a little more room left with a 2k PARTS budget. I'd say about 300 for headers 700-800 for intercooler, tune I'll have to bring it some where prolly WI like Bio said, Ported S/C and TB and Heads will be done with the help of family. My uncles got a fully gasket matched and ported 396 in his 68 Camaro. Im pretty sure we can do a 3800. ZZP or other modular pulley should be around 150 or so that bring parts up to around 1150 to 1250. I still see room for rockers cam or both. Remember im not worried about gasket costs and other misc. stuff will certianly be needed.
