What oil to use comes up on this site very often. Everyone has their own preferences, but the truth is if you use an oil on the GM6094M approved oil list and change it according to the OLM (oil life monitor) you going to be fine. I personally use both synthetic and regular dino oil, the urban myth you can’t/shouldn’t change is BS. It is never to late or to early to use synthetic. From personal experience I haven’t noticed any change in engine performance between oils, but synthetic oil does make for better cold weather starting. IMHO synthetic oil is worth the cost if only for the cold weather protection.Originally Posted by Ryansgtp

Also, just to reinforce the others comments on 3K oil changes. 3K oil changes are way overkill if you stay off the track and strip. I choose to change my oil at 5K, even though the OLM will bring me out way past that.
