That's my understanding as well. By no means am I recommending driving 600 miles over the mountains with a GT PCM!
The guy that does dynotuning in Denver is Clint and he runs/owns American Intense Racing (AIR) give him a call.

You can also PM Boostd1, he's on here. He did the street tune on my car, and has been tuning local GTPs for quite a while. He ran a 12.9 at Bandimere (elevation of 7,000 ft, I don't recall what the DA was) without nitrous. ...his tuning mentor in Wyoming ran 11.5 without nitrous at the same track

Depending on how much they charge in Utah (the guys in Denver are cheap) you could probably get reptile's PCM installed, do a pull on the dyno in Utah and post up the graph. If it looks good, then dyno tuning and/or a road trip may be unecessary.
