i was just currious if anyone knows if it would be possible to take a gxp v8 and put it in a 2000 gtp shell and roughly what it would cost to do so....also which would be more worth the money, doing the swap or just building my L67

I think that it has been done a couple of times. For the money that it costs to do you can just build the L67 and be faster.

ok thanks guys...im gonna build the L67 but does anyone know what kind of power differences i could get from a turbo over a supercharger? also does anyone know of any sites other than 3800 performance, zzp, and pfyc that carry aftermarket parts for these motors?

    Intenseracing.com, wbodystore.com, tripleedgeperformance.com and vendors on here

Well, if you can afford a turbo, go for it, it will make more power with less mods. Your going to be going through transmissions like you change underwear though, or you can get a built trans from Dave at triple edge.

you'd still nuke your tranny's. you NEED the 1" chain for it to survive.

AAND...no one makes the 1" chain anymore...and if it is getting sold by someone...it goes for a ton last I checked.

Just wondering what is with all these LS4 swap questions lately...its dumb...no aftermarket support hardly for the LS4 unless your pockets go a bit deeper...I can make a L67 go faster than a bolt-ons LS4 for about a grand or less

Sorry to hijack the thread but if the 1" chain is a goner does that mean that mean that a turbo, or really any kind of high hp build is a no go?

No it just means the transmissions aren't as strong.

Myself personally Id rather just buy a whole wrecked GXP and take the seats suspension brakes wheels engine and trans. To make it cost effective and then sell what ever body parts I could to recoup some of the cost. Ive seen wrecks going for around 5000 to 6500. If you dont think their is an aftermarket for them check out ls1tech.com and look in the ls4 section. Sure it isnt cheap though. Guys over their got the cam heads and intake swaps down. Head/cam/intake ls engine will make plenty of NA HP for what the trans can handle.

No...they don't. You call 300 WHP numbers? Gimme a break. And why would you take the transmission out of it and put it in a '97-'03 car. Last I checked you can't even do that because the GXP uses paddle shifters anyways...totally different internals. Plus...the LS4 sucks. It makes stupid amounts and heat and requires a damn crazy amount of tuning to go fast. But to quote you...I can't justify spending all that money when you can do it on a MUCH CHEAPER ROUTE.
