I have an oil catch can on our Jeep and it works great. Has anyone ever put one on a supercharged 3800 engine? I don't even know where you would tap in to do that?....

It can be done on a SC 3800.
Like Bio said, there is no need most the time.
In my case, its just going to have to be done. When I had the GenV off on my engine to install my D.P.N.I. plate under it, the LIM had a great deal of oil in it. Thinking it was the PCV acting up, I cleaned up the mess, and changed the PCV. I had a small leak, so I had to remove the GenV again and seal a small corner of the gasket under the plate, so it came off too. No racing was done, only a trip form here to Branson for that meet was on the car, and the oil was back in the LIM again.
I have the can (which is VERY bad ass let me just say), the lines, and the fittings, I just need time to install it all. I'll do a write up to show you how, but it maybe way over some peoples heads, or they would not want to do it to their car once they see how its done, correctly where it actually works.
You have to modify the supercharger because the PCV valve is with in it. Its permanent when you do it, but it can be "fixed" or "corrected" if you choose not to run the catch can anymore.

Most turbo cars use a "custom" pcv system. The easiest way is to plug the pcv hole in the throttle body and run a breather on the front valve cover. It's not optimal because there is unmetered air coming into the engine, but its the only way possible when you have boost pressure before the throttle body/s/c. Most guys run a catch can with a vac line coming from each valve cover. With a s/c setup, you could easily come up with a pcv system that sees metered air.
Pretty much bypassing the stock PCV all together so everything is still metered air is what I am doing. I will still have a PCV because of boost, but it will be a little different kinda set up. Think Buick Grand National.

Thanks for the input guys.
I had never heard of one of these until recently. Our Jeep has the 4.7L V8 and one Saturday I went to check the fluids, etc. I took the oil cap off to find this:
I LOST it thinking I had a blown head gasket, so I rushed it in to the shop only for them to tell me they couldn't find a leak anywhere after doing a few tests including an exhaust/radiator test. I took it home and started doing some research and found out that this specific engine is notorious for condensation accumulation and that it was a known issue that occurs when the engine is driven frequently for short distances (the condensation doesn't have a chance to completely vaporize by the engine heat). Well, I put a catch can on that engine and I was stunned at the garbage that was being pumped down my throttle:
So now I've been running that catch can on my Jeep for a few months and it removed a great deal of crap from being caked on my valves, etc. My bro has an eclipse that he is building for racing and when he was tearing apart the stock engine, he showed me why he is putting a catch can on his - I couldn't believe the thick, black sludge that had accumulated all over the valves and in that area.
So after seeing my bro's eclipse and my experience with our Jeep, I figured it definitely couldn't hurt anything by keeping that crap out of the GTP's "throat." Because of how the PCV sits in the S/C'er I really wasn't sure if it was possible. I think I see where you're going with plugging the PCV and modding the S/C'er. My GTP is a DD, so I'm not too thrilled with the idea, myself. I was more looking to see if there was an easily accessible vacuum line that I could splice into that would do the same job. If not, I'll just live with it and won't be too worried about it. The car just passed 140K miles this weekend and I really want to do anything I can to squeeze the most miles out of it as possible.
Anyway, sorry for the life story but there's where I'm at. Thanks again for all the input and advice, I really appreciate it!![]()
