So since I haven't got the cash yet to get me a scanner that can scan for KR. I settled for now with installing a cheap-o sunpro boost gauge to at least check how was my infamous 98 GTP flowing and to my surprise, It's doing up to 8.5 or so psi at 5,500 rpm on the 1st to 2nd shift and a bit lower (around 8) on 2nd to 3rd gear.

The only minor mods that I have is a Ubend delete, 185 Tstat and a 4" CAI, everything else is bone STOCK. I've been reading around for stock psi on these cars and I belive it should be 5-7 at shift points if it was flowing right.

So my first question is if 8.5 psi ok or there's something wrong? If there is, I suspect the CAT may be clogged is there a way to check if it's clogged?

    Thanks!

If the cat's clogged you have an exhaust restriction causing you to have more boost. Boost is caused by exhaust restrictions for the most part. I had 14lbs of boost on my 3.4 pulley due to restrictions in my exhaust before headers. I have a 3.25 pulley on now and have 11lbs of boost with headers and ported SC & TB.

Mine has 5 psi stock with the same gauge you have. Car is stock besides a HAI lol, and a res delete. I see 7psi at about 5,500 rpms

Went a best of 14.6 @ 94 mph with this setup(with the res. tho) and the headlight removed.
    2002 GTP coup 14.6 @ 94mph stock baseline 5-7psi.
    Headers w/o cat, plugs, fwi, 180* t-stat, 3.4, mail-in tune. 13.9 @ 99.75mph 2.2 60'..seeing only 7psi and a fresh set of weatherman snow tires

Thanks I guess I won't worry much about it then. I still plan to put a high flow cat in place before dropping to a 3.4" pulley, I'm not sure if the stock cat will flow good enough with the higher pressure.

the stock cat will flow fine, only upgrade the cat if you want to match it to the size of the headers.
