tha nic cam sounds impressive. low 12's headers. but again how knows

I have been reading this thread for awhile and I have a few questions.
First of all, how much can a stock series 3 SC motor take before you run the extreme risk of breaking it?
How much can the stock tranny take?
And finnaly, how do you keep the power on the ground? In my Stock GTP 04 I have some really nice street tires instead of the all seasons and I still have traction issues from time to time. With that being said, next month I will be replacing the entire exaust system, the intake, and probably going to chip it but am worried ill be all over the road.
the motor can handle a damn lot. the enemy is knock which is going to blow out pistons. other than that maybe 400-500hp range on the bottom end.
tranny on the other hand... it just depends on how ruff you are on it. if your always flooring it droping gears yea its gonna go out. its not really a sport tranny. but at the same time if you take it easy on it, people have gone 12's cammed with there stock tranny. but at that point most opt for a built tranny.
and traction issuies. really good meats. i have some meaty good years right now and they wont hook up for ****. before i had some bfg's and they hooked pretty good. also throttle controll. roll into it. it is FWD and when you punch it the weight is going to roll back lifting off the front tires so make a slow transaction.
when i had good tires at the track i was beating alot of cars off the line, like gto's and low 13 sec trucks and what not. so our cars can hook
Thanks for the fast reply. I am not really going all out. Myself like any other guy wants all the power sure, but this is my daily driver and it has alot of power by itself. Im probably gonna stop on the simple stuff that I do and call it a day. If I really want a fast car Ill go get a summer car like a stang or somthing.
Sorry. I changed my sig. It updates it in all the posts lol. I'm at running low 12's with my setup now.
Nah...I'm selling all of my m90 stuff..zzp headers,gen5 i just bought ect ect....So that Way I can't lol
good luck. sounds cool but alot more work then it intails.
and im sure tdc's turbo setup is gonna suprise a few corvette owners![]()
Heh... I have bought everything finially now. Just getting all the pics together and waiting on everything to arrive.
sweet!!! so you will be ready in april for the next track day?? its gonna be a two day event with them allowing us to camp out over night.
I will be there. I promise. Let me know when. I have not forgotten about you're parts. I will be shipping them out this week.
again no rush, im not trying to do it anytime soon. take your time.
april 24-25 i do belive. its over on the mce website, ill check it out.
now i just need a hub so i can change some pullies, gotta run my bros mustang down. 13.8 at 98 with a 50 shot. auto 94 gt
Ehhhh...
you guys are a bit lost here... with my manual trans setup... stock everything with bolt on 1.9 rockers and not much else put down 284.... which meant about 330 crank or so...
My automatic setup without rockers and a 50shot was barely faster... and trapped less than that car... I never dyno'd it...
This just goes to show that WHP gains are much much much different than crank gains... IE the manual trans car lost 14% of its power in the trans, and the auto lost mid to low 20's.... Lets do some math
235WHP is pretty typical of a 3.4 "full bolt on" setup without headers. This is based on the fact that a stock GTP will make 190 to the wheels, and with a advertised 240 crank horsepower, we can assume that we are losing 21% of the 240 horsepower. Now a typical 3.4 car makes 45whp more than stock, take that out 21% and you will see a 295 crank HP number based on the 21% loss. (i have seen a few 3.4 setup cars making more than 245 even...)
