Thread: Changing the supercharger oil, how often and how?

Never dealt with a supercharger before, im used to the tapped block with a turbo and a drain line into the pan. I guess it's not bad to do? I've got 123k on mine and I'm betting it's never been done.

I have one but I looked through it and didn't see that one. I'll have to look again.

For supercharged engines only: Check the supercharger oil level and add the
proper supercharger oil as needed (or every 36 months, whichever occurs
first). See “Recommended Fluids and Lubricants” in this section.
An Emission Control Service. (See footnote

They say check and top up... but this is like gear oil, its gotta be changed.

This is the "how to" for changing the coupler, but it shows a good way to get the oil out.

I did mine in my 2006 GT and I used this siphon . I bought this car 3 weeks ago and I wanted to change the oil . I am glad I did, it was smelly and very dirty. I am sure the last owner never did. Pump out the old oil very fast.

so it's kind of like a diff being it's like gear oil, it really should be changed but chances are 1 in every 10 people maybe have actually done it as a preventitive maintenance step.

but its not really like gear oil in terms of its weight.

97-03 takes 6 oz is that different in the 04 +? or did you over fill it?

People keep saying its 6 fl oz yet others say it takes 8.

I think the issue is, how much did you get out?

good call. But GM, and zzp says 6 it takes 6oz
