Can someone explain how to tune the car for mileage? What needs to be tuned? I will have my mechanic do it but I thought I would give him some pointers from you guys. I want the best mileage I can get 90% of the time. I drive 80 highway miles round trip to work every morning. I still only see 21 - 22 MPG.

Seriously MrTorino, when you are "cruising at highway speeds" do you still have 4th gear? You can know, if you do (or if you don't). Your RPM's will hover above 3000-4000 and never settle into the low to middle 2000 range. When I cruse steadily at 43 mph mine (RPM's) average 1200-1400 RPM's. It’s really subtle, but works. Tough problem. Drove me nuts until my tranny failed (4T65 MN7 [HD]). If you can to see it in the TACH, you will see it coming. Trannyman95 has written some really GOOD articles here. Good luck MrTorino.

My 100% stock 07 GT has been getting around 15-16 in town. And I was careful to be nice to it to make sure it wasn't just me. I just changed my plugs and wires. Any suggestions?

I see an average of 23.1 on my car, and it is mostly highway driven. 90 mile one way to work, but I stay 35 miles away on my back to back nights. There is some city type driving in there, but as I said the majority is highway. I would love to make it better, but at this point I am just holding on till I can get my G8.

I will check to see if I have a 4th gear. I think I would have noticed it running at high rpms but I will double check.
Flow mods? I will search the forum.

Well since I did the oil and put the correct air pressure in the tires i'm now seeing right short of 23mpg in town and on the way to virginia i averaged 32.7mpg. I'm very satisfied. I havent even done the air filter yet, which from what I saw wasnt to bad and I cant imagine this mileage getting much better.

Sandman, how can a chipped piston be easily confirmed as the source of a tick? Don't mean to beat the issue to death but I have a tick I am working to isolate, myself.
