If I bought an engine from a 2004, does anyone know if the heads would fit my 2004?

Good grief, I screwed that up well. Mine is a 2003. Would 2004 heads fit on mine? Are most of the parts interchangeable? Their both 3.8 s/c.

The engine I'm getting was removed with 96000 on a 2004 GTP. He said he removed it because it was knocking and never had it fixed.
That seems a bit suspicious, but when I meet him, I'll be able to tell more...

What causes the knocking or pinging?

Low octane fuel, bad fuel, excessive heat, carbon deposits. Knocking could be rod/main bearings.
