it seems with a gt(3:29 gears) a slight loss in low in torque won't be missed. go headers and leave the rest alone for now. mufflers are fine, but if u want performance, hence ur shopping list, buy rocker or hv3 insert. more gt dudes can chime in...

a friend with a GT and 3" downpipe (when i was still n/a) and i raced (i was stock minus an intake) and we were dead even. youre only going to move the powerband higher with headers or any type of valvetrain work. its for the best with the gearing the non-HD trans comes with. this is also why i will never buy an HD trans ever again. the non HD is just as strong and it comes with the gearing youd normally 'upgrade' to when you start with a GTP/GS/SS/etc.

the only thing youll have to tune for is the gear ratio, correct.

you might wanna look into it. see if you can get a converter too. yours was sliping kinda bad. i could tune some of it out (maybe) it would just take more time.

but it might not be a bad idea to go ahead and get another one.

and yea with headers and hv3 and rockers, it would move the powerband up, but it would be a NICE difference from stock.

Just for an FYI on the GT guys...it took a GT2 Cam, #105's, Custom Dyno Tuning, GTP TB, GTP Injectors, HV3, 4" HAI, Shift Kit, 180*, Poly's, 3" DP, 3" Single Outlet Exhaust (its an SE), and AL606's to keep pace with a Stock GTP with a fenderwell and a 180*. So...I'd rather top swap it with EBay headers...and make about 30-50 more horse with a good tune.

so you still have the bosch platinum 4 or whatever? return them. dont run them, theyre garbage. autolites are common knowledge for these cars and youll save some $$. you could run ngk's, but theyre a little more.

    run stock wires too.

i dont see a tune in your mod list. returning the stuff you dont need will get you some more money for one, which will help GREATLY. especially after headers. perhaps you can drop a pulley size and tune at the same time.

thanks for the help. im probably going to get a topswap from morad and the ebay headers and ask my friends dad to install that since i dont have a garage... if its out of the question, how much do you think a shop would charge for a topswap and header install?

Ask them how much it would be to replace the head gaskets on your car.

Its 10 hours in labour FYI.

Also the rate of labour here is $93 an hour at your local chain'd shop.

Also headers would probably be included since they need to come off to get the heads off the car.

yea they were trying to charge me 1200$ to pull my heads off when i first got my car.

if you can find someone that can do it and know what there doing, that might be better. but i would still offer to pay them like 300$ for it tho. i would be pissed to do all that work on someones car and not get paid for it.

i like helping people do installs, not actually doing them on my own. id rather the person be able to take care of it next time they have to do it then learn absolutely nothing.

yeah i thought it was ridiculously expensive. thanks for the info, my friends dad has about 30 years experience working on american cars so he should do it with me for a loooot cheaper.
