hello all. I've searched this place everywhere for an answer. i don't know too much about engines and i was wondering whats going on with my 99 GTP its been getting more and more of a lag when accelerating, about the time the S/C kicks in. i just put a ram air hood with a new filter. so i don't think its an air filter. and i have plugs and wires but i don't think that would make a difference because it hasn't been missing. (as far as i know, i don't know what the symptoms are) anyone know whats going on? sorry for the poor info.

unbolt the dp from the rear manifold, and go for a drive. see if it seems to have more power. if it does than your cat is clogged. if it doesnt, well, go to a parts store and get a new fuel filter and put on.

clean to fuel inj. system or run some seafoam cleaner thru the topend to remove carbon buildup.

Seafoam, tune-up, new cat. Btw the high-flow one from zzp is actually cheaper than the oem part if you decide to replace it.

so i put the filter in and it helpede a litlle but it still had one little hiccup where i lost power instead of just not getting any acceleration so i guess ill keep trying. i really dont have the money for a cat. so what is seafoam, and how much will that put me back?

seafoam is a luquid it clean carbon and such out of your engine. What you do is take the brake booster hose (the black house coming off the side/top of the master cylinder for the brake in the engine bay and put about half a can into that. You need to just take your time and not put to much in because it will stall the engine. When you take the hose off the engine will almost die so keep your finger over it and just do the best you can. I did it on my truck and just stuck the hose in the can and tried that. Worked great actually.

Just a little not to hondo. If you use seafoam and introduce it to your vacuum system, the car with blow white smoke like crazy and produce fumes that will burn your eyes. This is perfectly normal. Makes me want to seafoam more often.

Once a year I'd say in the engine, once every few months in the injectors. You can just use normal injector cleaner for that though if you don't wanna spend the $$ on seafoam every few months.

no... drive the car at night... do a few hard pulls... when u get back home.. look under the car and see if the cat is glowing... or... disconnect ur downpipe.. will be loud.. drive it and see if it acts right then.
