Well I finally got to tear down my engine for a rebuild. Pulled the heads and.....sure enough I have a busted piston. It doesn't appear to have damaged the head or valves. But will have to take a closer look at the valve seats. Just an update for anyone keeping up on my slow project. Again any input would be appreciated. Also, I am looking at getting a larger Cam. Any suggestions??? 3.8 S/C w/ 5 spd.

Are you doing a lambo kit on a fiero?

I was looking at those kits lastnight actually... did you stretch the frame?

Sorry to hear about the busted piston.

I have the XP cam, i like it, its pretty decent, just gotta get the machined valve spring retainers or they will contact the valve seal and chew them up, then you burn oil!

got any pics on your project

if youre getting the heads ported go for one of the bigger cams (XPZ, IS3, TEP, or go custom). did you buy this motor from someone or is it your fault?

Should just be able to replace the piston with a good one and keep on truckin. Just check your heads like you mentioned. And make sure the walls aren't scored that bad. Shouldn't be too much of an issue though.

Yes it is based on a Fiero. No it's not stretched. And I do have pics. Just go to my profike and look at the Lambo Kit album.
Bio, I got the engine like that. And I am going to go with a bigger cam. But there is no one around here (that I'm aware of) to get a good tune.
I will be doing a port/polish on the heads and intake. Want to get some headers, but those are high $$$$. I am also going to machine me an intercooler once I find the right cooler core to mount in it. That should take care of any KR. At least that's what i've read.
Will probably have the block bored .010 over and get new pistons. I want this thing right. Cause I'll be running the piss out of it everychance I get.

anyone that knows how to work on the old buick 231 heads (grand national or t-type) should be fairly fluent with our heads. go big or go home. the fiero should be a super fun car to play with.

forged pistons arent worth it. you can buy two new blocks for the price of those. if youre not knocking like crazy you wont punch holes in pistons.

I've tried to search but quickly find out. What's the difference between an L67 & L32? Not to sound like an idiot. I just don't know.
