I need a bit help here plzz? I have 97 grand prix gtp, when i turn on my HEATER/AC control unit from off to number 1,2,3,4 it doesn't work but it work's on number 5, and also suddenly some times REAR Defrost Push button works and sometimes doesn't and samething with A/C push button, and also the AIR is flowing only from the FACE VENTS, When i turn the Dial knob to FRONT DEFROST, or towards FLOOR or anyother it won't do anything just keep flowing from FACE VENTS, please any help would be appreciated. I was told to change the BLOWER Resistor, i did changed the Blower Resistor, it was a nightmare to change, but i changed it by myself, but still no solution, please any help would be appreciated, i wonder if i should try changing HEATER/AC CONTROL it self, any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, WINTER is coming can't make my 2 years girl to suffer in vehicle. I answered your first post on the fan issue but I also had an issue with the airflow not redirecting in my 2002 GTP. Was a broken vacum hose up by the battery. For some reason, the line leaves the engine and makes a big loop up towards the battery before heading to the firewall. They are plastic and will get brittle over time. If I can find it, I'll post the GM part number of the piece for the fan issue.

First thing, I would check your fuses. There is a separate fuse for settings 1-4 and for #5. So check the fuse first. My initial thought would be the blower motor resistor, but since you changed that, I will rule that out. But also consider changing your ignition switch as one that is going bad can cause these issues.
