I believe that an exhaust shop can modify any part of the exhaust that they want. It just can't be used on the streets by the owner of the vehicle.(hence the term off road pipe on the non catted versions of the DP on the sites) I am not positive of this, but that is what I thought. Otherwise no exhaust shop would modify anything newer than a 1975 right? No modding of headers, cat's, resonators, or mufflers would be accepted.......please correct me if I am wrong.

NOBODY will sell those things now - because even if they are caught trying to sell one on eBay - eBay and the seller will get fined. The injunction covers anyone who participates in promoting or selling such a device.

If you are just starting college, you must be a young man, but I am 53 and have been working on cars - and GM cars in particular - for probably as many years as you are old, and removing the back pressure required for an engine to develop the best horsepower can have a lot of effects - too many of which there are to list here - but let me say - I do fuel injection systems - and you say you removed (or want to remove) the Oxygen Sensor - also a Federal offense - and this is what controls the fuel injection system. If you do that you will put the car into "limp home mode" and it will get poorer mileage and higher emissions.

You may think it runs better and faster - and it probably is, will and does - because you are pumping more fuel through it than required and it will decrease the life of the engine and also cause a host of other problems I will not even try to begin to list here.

Some other poster here made note of the sound of a V-6 without a good muffler system or a glass pack setup. Every time I hear some yahoo who has put on a performance muffler to get a "throaty" sound from anything other than a good ole' V-8 engine - I laugh. Anyone with half a brain and an ear can tell the difference the louder you make it. A four banger will always sound like a four banger - pure crap, and a six cylinder - V type or not - with always sound like a drone machine a little better than crap, and the only thing that will sound heathy, hearty and strong is a V-8 with dual exhausts and an equalizing cross-over, - and I am partial to the GM small block sound.

Of course no one here is going to like what I just said - but here is food for thought. Since what this guy did was illegal; and you did not know any better; I would march right back over there and tell him to put it all right back on - for the same price he took it off for - FREE - AND smog the car to guarantee it is running right as from the OEM. He is liable. If he does not do it - report it to the EPA and the Justice Department will pay him a visit and make him do so and maybe yank his business license if he has one. That covers your tail in the meantime.

There are lots of ways to get more horsepower and better mileage lawfully and that is what we do - but what you did Dreama ain't it - so there is said.

I have a 3 inch catless downpipe with no ubend and 3 inch exhaust all the way back split 2 2.5 inch dynomax mufflers, and believe it or not it sounds really good, its not raspy and its not 2 loud. It has an aggresive roar to it. I never had 2 put an 02 sensor simulator, my check engine light never came on and its been a while now. They did put the 02 sensor a little farther back then what it was originaly tho, maybe thats it.

Weird you didn't get the p0420 "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)" code.

Do you have a res? Sometimes the rasp is actually reduced by aftermarket exhaust systems, the mufflers specifically.

No,camera broke. Ill try 2 get something soon. I was surprised i didnt get a code either. My check engine light works, i made sure. Oh well, if it aint broke, dont fix it. Ill atleast try 2 get some pics up soon. The guy who made the exhaust did a hell of a job 4 only 250 bucks.

Sixth, I have a Chevy 350 that is roots blown with a GM Eaton setup that came off of Grand Prix and absolutely I am sure gets way better mileage than anything anyone is driving here; (even though it it BIGGER); is street legal under OEM emissions spec; has dual fueling systems and from what I see is way too technologically advanced for anyone here to understand. The only difference bewteen it and a 2009 GM LS9 is it is a LS9 from 1974 casting block (four bolt main) upgraded all the way to a 2009 version.

So, seventh, I am nowhere near "senile" - I own an alternative fueling company and work with the EPA on targeting trends and we are looking at who to make an example of next int he coming wave of legislation aimed at Cap and Trade enforcement policies.

Eighth, you young men do not know who you are talking to when you spout off, but you are all trackable through your handles, what you put in print and IP registrations, and you stupidity shows among some of you. I could be a lawyer - (a.k.a I have a Law Degree) or a Judge or the EPA itself. Are you all that stupid? I guess so.
