I believe one, not the other (plugging slits has not been mentioned until you just said it, BTW).

When I wanted more whine, I just put on a bigger blower, though. Sound doesn't mean fast... there's a certain section at car meets/cruises dedicated to that idea, to segregate those it's important to.

I won't be putting my current case/outlet on the Bridgeport ever, it came from the manuf. pretty baller:

I love the whir/whistle my Reptile-ported Gen III has at idle. And it whines really well at WOT even on the stock size pulley.

if i run the the filter off the maf at the tb people swear i have a smaller pulley (its pretty loud) sealed up in the wizair box its not as loud but still pretty loud.

a ssei (supercharged bonnie) flew past me on the highway yesterday so i decided to return the favor, i passed him pretty high in the gear, 3 lanes over. they pulled back up and complimented me on how loud the whine was. cant wait till i get off this stock pulley

GenV's are a lot louder from the factory too IMO...but maybe it is just me idk. My GenIII wasn't that loud even with a 3.4" It was when I ported the blower that thing came to life
