I'm thinking about getiing an intercooler because headers would make the car too noisey, it gets to loud on the iside of the car with just the cat back so i am going for the intercooler. the whole kit with shipping is gonna be abot 725. i was just wondering how this will affect my car, if you have one, how hard was the install and how small of a pully i could drop to.
right now i just have exhaust and intake and my cr is an 04.
any other info on the topic is welcome
alos i love seeing pics, vids and sounds clips of other peoples cars so feel free to send me some of yours at

Anything I have heard is to not waste your time on the SS version. There is a guy on this board making phelonic versions, so that might be a good place to start.

    does it work? yep.

does it work well compared to a fullsize? nope.

they get heat soaked pretty quickly.

Yeah, if you willing to drop $725 on those then I suggest you watch the used parts area around here and get a nice full size one where you can really make some power.

SSIC = POS for the money IMO for the above reasons

The exhaust noise is probably from the lack of a resonator on the catback. I recommend headers over SSIC and have a resonator welded in teh catback, I got mine for like $25 from Summit Racing.

SS IC sucks, I had one on my other GTP. Get a full sized or don't get an IC at all, thats what I learned. I got two GTPs with full sized ICs for a reason...

X2 I put in a 3" flopro resonator when I put on my headers, no cat and flowmaster 40's. Everyone said my car was loud, I thought that was a given, but then I let someone drive it one day and I could still here them a mile away. Better resonator = no cabin noise/drone.

I ran a powerlong and a 3 inch downpipe for a a year. Ended up selling them about 3 weeks ago and gettin headers. Don't waste the time installing that stuff twice go headers from the start.

I run the SSIC and it works well for me but I'm sure a fullsize is much better. I also have a 1/4" Phenolic SC spacer, GM pump and the newer ZZP stage 2 FMHE. This gives me the option of doing a S2 upgrade with just a IC core. If I were you i'd get a set of headers. They make a big difference at least they did for me and I ran a Plog & downpipe before I got headers. As stated above don't waste your $ on a Plog & downpipe just get headers 1st.

thanks everyone, looks like headers and a resonaitor are next on the list. I wanted to get headers a while ago but i dont want to have them welded, i want them all clamps like SLP, but SLP headers come to about 1000, do you know of any other headers that are set up like SLP but with out the price tag? I got a lot of responses for SS auto chrome but they need to have a cat welded on, thats another big issue, i want my car to be legal.

by the way Josh your car looks great!

The Other Guys Exhaust Headers: 3800 Performance

Get a bolt on DP from ZZP or but their weld on and have a shop weld it on. My local place charged like $25.
