Nice! You got that meth hooked up!! Sweet. Side note I wanted to replace the oil pump just because it's cheap enough to do but zzp has the extra volume kit. Should I get that, I think they said it raises oil pressure 10psi

if it is not broke, don't fix it. you don't need more oil pressure.

Well that answers that. I figured the 10 extra psi was a zzp gimic. I think I'm going to need to buy new pushrods since the ones I have are farely worn. Stock size is 7.050 right?

bumping the oil pressure is always good. If you want to save money vs the zzp oil pressure kit grab some small washers to total 1/4" thick and stick them in the cap, walla "zzp pressure kit"

Is it smart to replace the front main seal when doing the cam?

You have to replace the front main seal. Make sure you get oem and it should be a snug fit. There is no such thing as a 5/16 trans chain

i learned the hard way to not touch whats not broken. if your are putting the same balancer back on dont bother changing the seal.

now the rear seal and gasket id do just for the hell of of it. cause that back cover's bolts are about hand tight. and the cover does tend to leak.

Front and rear cover gaskets, seals too, ONLY GM SEALS... Aftermarket don't cut it, sorry. Get the GM From Cover Gasket too, it's paper, thicker, I like it better than the thin metal Fel-Pro. Nothing wrong with Fel-Pro mind you, it's just a preference.

Take it in when you tear your engine apart, its not going to take 30 days to machine it.

I could but id rather have it done prior. With how big of a project this is it makes things a lot easier on me if everything I need is done and ready.

Well me and my dad looked over the stock pushrods I have and decided we should get new and not re use the old since some of the balls were slightly misshapen. Question is do I go cheap and buy stock replacements from rock auto for 2$ each or just get some zzp ones for 80 or comp cams for 100. I'm worried if the oem will be as strong as original gm

If you are getting pushrods, you should buy the measuring tool and have them custom made to the exact lenght.

Well 2 things on that. First if stock pushrods work with the s1x cam then why would I need a different/custom length? Second this car is my daily driver and I do not have the time while installing the cam to just let it sit multiple days while I wait to have pushrods custom made and shipped to me.

Because perfect length pushrods are always better. But if you don't have time, I'd stick with gm or something from zzp.

Ya i unfortunately don't have that luxury. I'll send intense an email to see if they recommend a different size pushrod that would be better then stock length.

It's not a luxury to do it right... Hydraulic lifters have a small amount of tolerance to be true, but you measure everything and make sure it's proper. You just don't know stock is stock, but it's not, especially of used, has mileage. Did you check the valve springs too if not new? How about the lifters?

And stock pushrods, stock+.05, Stock-.05 are probably all a "stock" shelf item and available. Not sure, you'd have to check. So anyway, back to the issue at hand. I had a lengthy response prepared to earlier post, but due to constant rebuttal, decided you'd figure it out on your own. Like this, a suggestion is made to measure and your response is OK "BUT"... Lol... So you see? People are trying to help you out, Not sure it's reaching you. Do it right, or do it again (See my thread - bent valve, lol)... For the matter, if you're going with the 130# springs, 5/16 pushrods would be in order in my opinion as a minimum... And $2 pushrods aren't a bargain if they fail...
I might even have a used set of Comp Cams PR's laying around, but I haven't made a clean-up sale thread yet from my build, lots of parts and stock parts, etc... Stay tuned or PM me...

Did you decide to go with the double roller?

I have 105# springs and I did go with the double roller. Intense has said stock length 7.050 pushrods will work good. I planned on getting zzp 5/16th pushrods but let me know if you have some for sale as long as they're in good shape since the whole reason I'm buying pushrods is because I purchased stock ones from a member on here and when I got them they were messed up and misshapen. 😳

I'll check today what I have, know they're Comp Cams, I'll check the length for stock.
