    Hello everybody,

I have a question about the zzp powerlog. I want to buy one along with my 3" downpipe, but see that they want an extra $80 for the ceramic coating. I was wondering if it was really needed to pay the extra money for it, or will the standard version be just fine and do the trick?

    Thanks

the plog in general prolly isnt really worth the cash.
i have a ported front manifold i could sell you that would give you almost the same results at a 1/4 of the cost.

a plog != a ported front manifold. the plog is a great buy for the money it is. if i would buy one id just get it regular and wrap it with header wrap.

a plog is a little more than a just an OEM manifold that is ported by someone with a dremel. I've got a regular plog w/hi temp black paint. The black paint turned gray after the first 10 min. and it hasnt changed since.

Ported manifolds are nowhere near the Plog. The problem with the stock manifold is not the primaries, but the diameter of the collector area which you simply cannot port. My Plog is stainless and still looks like day one.

Thanks for the info so far. I'm gathering that it really doesn't matter if is ceramic or the black high temp paint, just the black paint will burn off quickly after install.

the ceramic coating will hold in heat better, but is it worth it on a plog? probably not.

i think they need to make them heavier. mine crack after 7 months on a n/a car.... maybe 14 gauge stainless? just somthin so they last longer. nuthing like spending 200 and having it crack just over half a year later

A dremeld job manifold is no where near the same as a plog...there had been too many complaints on zzp's high temp paint making lots of smoke, smelling like shi*...blah blah blah... I got mine with ceramic coating, i mean its +$60 for stainless and +$80 for ceramic, i thought i might as well get it in ceramic for the extra $20, even though most of it scratched off anyways while installing... oh and id say if your car is a bit older to get new exhaust manifold bolts...

Get stainless. Stronger, holds heat about as well as ceramic, and won't scratch or flake. I mean, the true test to me of the stainless was when it was glowing. I could put my hand down near it and barely feel any heat coming off, but it was pretty damn bright. Also my ceramic coated x-over didn't have hardly any radiant heat either.

(Note, I didn't do that on purpose. Had the car idling to warm up on a cold morning, stuck IAC causing a 2500RPM idle, and about 20 minutes of sitting there doing it before I came out and realized. That's a lot of exhaust heat).

Stainless FTW. Had mine on for about 1 1/2 years now with no problems at all. Previously had a 1st gen plog that did eventually crack at the primaries.
