Installing speed daddy headers. I don't want to delete egr. Can't seem to get this bolt screw thing out. My ratcheting wrench won't fit in the little loop between the pipe and manifold, and a regular one doesn't seem to have enough turn space. How did you guys take yours out. Thanks in advance

the bolt is on the back of the exhaust manifold, if you have not figured that part out yet.

i used a 10 mm deep socket on a 1/4" drive ratchet aka a little ratchet and socket. flip it on from behind and get to wrenching it off.

Bolt size depends on year. Newer years are a 13mm. But yeah.. get in there and you'll get it.

I seem to remember my factory egr to manifold bolt being a goofy 13mm 12-point head. My ratcheting wrench was too big to fit, needed to use a regular one with a tiny turn at a time.

That's interesting. I have never seen a 12 point on one of them. Only six. But 13 or 10 were the two possibilities

I'll snap a picture if I can find it in my bucket o w-body bolts. I always ditch it in favor of a 6-point head, though. I believe both times I ran into the 12-point, they were on my 04 Impalas.

Mine was just a normal 13mm like all the others. Other than #2 plug boot, that was my only hold up. Couldn't get torque on it and when I finally got it free I had to unbolt it 1/12 of a turn at a time. FYI if you didn't notice yet, the SD EGR line doesn't sit flush with the EGR port on the 04+. You'll need a half inch ID washer to fill the gap.
