well ive come to the conclusion that for right now headers are out of my price range so i was wondering would the zzp power log and ported manifolds be a good substitute for right now.... i am planning on finally doing something to my car this summer to the extent of a bigger tb, new rockers and maybe a ported intake manifold do you guys think these manifolds would be of any interest to me ?

i honestly would just save up till you can get a set of headers. why spend the money to throw it away later?...and you will be better off with headers than plog anyways. and they are getting cheaper and cheaper these days...just my 2 cents
'01 GTP mods: K&N intake, autolite 104's, drilled 180*, !u-bend, !EGR, ported s/c, polished heads and TB and a LOT more whine
'99 firebird mods (1 of 6): LS1 swap, custom exhaust, LS6 IM, RA intake, and a few suspension parts

depends what you want out of the car. plog/ported manifolds are good for a 3.4-3.2 setup with rockers and what not, but if youre looking for 12s then you want headers.

You can run pretty fast with ported manifolds. So just decide on what time you want to run and we'll go from there.

the stock rear manifolds aren't really restrictive, I think you would be wasting your money.

well 100 and some odd dollars for this summer for the front manifold...... i think it would be worth it i mean of course i would love to get my car down to 12's but right now thats not in the cards for me moneys tight so hell if i could just drop some money into my car to just make it a little more fun for the time being than i think i might go for it i mean if i could break into 13's id be happy

Im happy with my plog, it definitely helped fighting the on-going battle with KR. My KR went down a couple of *'s just from the plog.

how is a powerlog and ported rear mani within your budget, but headers, which can be found for a little over 200 bucks anymore, are somehow out of your price range?
Not to mention that a powerlog and ported manifold are worthless without a bigger downpipe, which right there puts the total price at MORE than some of the current headers out there.

Ported manifolds are a sham, and a complete waste of money, and with as cheap as headers are anymore, the powerlog is obsolete for anything but a turbo setup.

save a few more dollars, and get something worth your time, effort, and money.

if you were to put together a cammed ported manifold car you would get on the pedal and be like "OMG !". the torque you can make with those manifolds still on is literally obnoxious. if you ever wanted to drive a car that will literally snap your neck off then stick with manifolds and a downpipe. although with a max power build, youd want headers for sure.

    just my .02.

well if youd like to show me these headers that are 200 bucks ... that are "worth my time" than ill go for it but i see togs and zzp's for more than 600 i have never seen a worthwhile set of headers for that cheap

SSAC's are direct SLP copies, only better, and are very inexpensive.

There are also several other header versions being sold on ebay for very cheap. On a car that's only worth a few thou, and IMO is a heap of crap anyway, I can't justify spending alot on headers, when the differences between the companies are negligible. Buy the pacesetter knockoffs for 200 and weld them up. If for some reason you ever need to remove them, you can grind the welds, or cut them off, you're only out 200 even if you ruin them.

    eBay Motors: 1997-2003 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX 3.8L HEADER 1998 1999 2000 (item 260330098878 end time Dec-14-08 16:23:06 PST)

Just thought I'd add that, since I referenced uber cheap headers that easily beat the price of ported manifolds and powerlogs.

There are a few dudes who have bought/installed these things over on clubgp, and have posted pictures. The construction from their comments and what I could see from the pictures is VERY nice. 304 stainless construction which is the same material ZZP uses (and is much better than the mild steel or 409 stainless TOG and SLP use respectively).

The price point is unbeatable at this point, especially in light of the quality. I just can't see how anyone could rationalize purchasing powerlogs or ported manifolds anymore with how cheap headers are, and how wide the performance difference is between headers and plogs/manis.

I have purchased a set of these as well, they will arrive on tues or wens of next week, and me and James(turbocharged406sbc) are gonna inspect, and eventually install them... our main question is the flange material (tubing is 304, but unsure on the flange material).......

As soon as I get enough information I will make a thread, so everyone can know more about these very affordable headers

No, he's got other mods. ER rockers, 2.5" (I think) DP, IC, etc. I don't forget the exact list, but the point is that the Plog setup can yield pretty decent results.
