    I'd saw that ZZP used a different blade but I didn't know if there was any place to source the larger blades or if the 04+ DBW TB blades would work or what (just an idea in my head). Not like it'll happen with this TB, it'd just be food for thought. Thanks for the info on flattening the shaft, that's good to know.

    maybe the blade/bar assembly could be transplanted from a north star throttle body?

    nope, the body of the oem tb isnt meaty enough...from what i recal 72mm is the biggest the bore can be opened without creating a large leak or a TB that would crack in half.
    even the N* tb was only offered up to a 78mm size on the zzp ported N* tb's back in the day.
    thats when they went and did the billet TB's that are 75mm but are modeled on the 3800 TB

    Yeah it's getting pretty thin. My fear would be that you could get a slightly larger throttle plate in there, but it would be so thin that you could be driving down the road and the TB may break in pieces. With the other options out there this this is just a step up from stock as an excercise because I was curious and hadn't modified the throttle bodies for GM before. I could have made a new throttle plate but it's time consuming, I could also have new throttle plates laser cut, but it's $100 just to drop the plate onto the table and individual plates would be about $2 to make but having 100 throttle plates made I would never go through all of them. This will just be a fun little project. I'm just waiting for another can of Lab metal to come in. It was supposed to be in last Wednesday but with the holidays it will probably be this week. I don't really like the normal epoxies since they don't blend with aluminum as well. I guess I'll post up some pics of progress from start to finish later on.

    another question, not really related to porting throttle bodies, but, I have a north star tb and the plastic part broke where the throttle cable attaches. is it possible to replace that part? and is it an easy job?

    would a port job on the outlet of the L67 throttle body so it matched the shape of the L36 intake manifold inlet be easy or doable?

    From what I can tell the NA and L67 throttle bodies are pretty close to the same. But blending it if it's different should be doable. You would still want to remove the throttle body blade and shaft to do it. I use 1" flapper wheels and and air die grinder and vary the grit depending on how much material I want to remove quickly. So an 80 grit running 80 psi removes it quickly but isn't too aggressive. 180 I use when I get close with flappers they typically leave a smoother finish than an equivalent grit on say a sanding roll or other rigid implement.
