So I'm collecting the parts to intercool my GP... and it looks like I can get the parts at work (I work at a NAPA) for cheaper than their equivalents from the various aftermarket sites for our cars... As far as I can tell, the GM pump that intense sells is the same as the one used in everything from the cobalt ss to the camaro ZL1, CTS-V, and ZR1 vette. I hate that part #s arent listed on these sites, but I guess that's to discourage people from doing what I'm doing /shrug.

I can also get my hands on the same pump ford used on the lightning/terminators for cheaper, but I'm wondering if those pumps might not have a potentially too-high flow rate, and not allow the intercooler coolant enough dwell time to allow convection to transfer enough heat, as this is a much smaller motor, and I'm sure those V8s probably have larger intercoolers... but on the flip side, they DO use them on even smaller motors than ours, but that doesnt mean they are as efficient for those motors, they arent as high of performance applications and in all likelihood GM doesnt care if they arent as efficient, as long as they are reliable.

Anyway, the GM pump is 6 GPM, the bosch from zzp and WBS is 8, and the flojet is 3.2... any suggestions on brand, and any part numbers? I also saw at work that altrom (napa's import brand for Germany, Japan, UK, etc) has some in very competitive price ranges and my boss says they are good quality, but I have zero experience with them.

Bosch pump is the best. The GM pump is probably the same pump. The flow rates are different depending on how much restriction there is in the system.

What are some of these part numbers that are cheaper?

I'm not at work atm, and I didnt write any of them down, there are quite a few when we search for "water pump auxiliary", I'm sure some of them aren't exactly intercooler pumps, and I have no way of knowing what their flow rates are without ordering them, so I was hoping someone else might have some of that information...

At a minimum, what would the part # of the bosch pump that WBS and ZZP are offering?

I personally run the Meziere Pump. If you hang around any cobalt guys, you will hear the horror stories about the Bosch pumps. The pumps have a extremely high failure rate.

I wouldn't trade my Meziere for anything. I also have a no flow switch with an greed/Red Led tied to it so you have a positive identification that you have flow or not

My flow switch is the aeroforce programmed to flash at 2.0 degrees knock.

I don't know what the cobalt guys are doing but most say the Bosch pump is the most reliable.

I bet Meziere is a good pump but that doesn't make the Bosch a bad pump.

Make sure you get the right size so you don't put a bottle neck in the system

How about one like this? It's about 6gpm and I like the inline design.

I have seen the "Auxiliary" pumps as well listed for most of the German cars and they seem to be for some of the SUVs and I was thinking maybe they are for rear heaters or something but they are only like $30-$40 each.

I wasn't sure if all of them were intercooler pumps or not, I just know that I found some that I know for fact are, like the ones for the supercharged camaro, vette, cobalt, cts-v, and the lightning/cobra pumps. That's what I was hoping to get some clarification for heh, as far as I can tell, napa doesnt list the GPM. Altrom is napa's import label for german, japanese, uk, etc. vehicles, and it lists a lot of aux pumps that are far cheaper than those for the fords and gms previously listed.
