I have an 02 pontiac grand prix gt, with the 3.8. I know they came factory with the iridium plugs but I was wondering if I put platinum, would it make a difference?

Yes, one will work great and the other will suck. The ignition systems in these cars does NOT like Platinum plugs one bit. Just stick with OEM irridiums and a cheap limetime warranty set of plug wires and call it a day. Oh, and do one plug/wire at a time so you don't f up the firing order

IR are fine for stock, for intake \ downpipe go to Autolite 605's, more mods do Autolite 104's, heavy mods do Autolite 103's. All copper cores on the ones I mentioned.

Looking for feedback on using 41-101s

Have had intermittent random misfires for years, have been chasing it (for years). Going back to trying spark plugs. Just replaced existing Autolite APP 606 double platinums with Delco 41-101 iridiums.

From past searching, I thought I should get AC Delcos. Got these w/o refreshing/knowing what I was specifically doing. 41-101 came up on the computer screen, and off I went. I wanted to check what part # I would find since it was hasty and didn't sound familiar. I actually had the standard plug in mind as the one to get. First two test drives were great, but I'm not jumping to conclusions because I recall this euphoria before. I see plenty of OK's and some nays.

Just looking for some "case studies"/experiences,
    Thanks
(will post back w/ my results)

'05 GTP, stock (slight change was made to PCM (?) to change shifting points, fuel mixture)
    Recent fuel injectors replaced
    Fairly new plug wires
Original crankshaft sensor, fuel pump, c.converter.
Recent vacuum leak checks and fix
    119,000 mi.
    Run 87-91 gas (1st run @ ~90, 2nd at probably more like 88)

I also run an AeroForce OBD reading device. Don't know what I'm doing that much, but O2 sensor readings seem to jump normal; no running tabs on ignition knock retard.

Put some cheap ass copper core AL606's in there. Gap them at factory gap @ .060" and be done.

    They'll work just fine.

I'd blame the platinum plugs for the first misfire problem, the waste spark ignition system eats them.

41-101 are the stock plugs and will work just fine. I also wouldn't run anything but 91+ octane in these supercharged cars.

If you can have a downpipe installed...catted of course.

If you don't plan on tuning it, that and a TransGo shift kit with new lower mounts will tighten everything up and get rid of the "slop" in the car. A high-flow panel filter and a 180* t-stat won't hurt, either.

And agreed on the octane. I wouldn't ever run anything LESS than 91.

Thanks for the replies. Here's how it has turned out:

The engine ran tight and smooth immediately after the new 'plugs, and now has gotten back to the same, frequent "Alzheimer's" and misfiring. Random misfires. Regretfully, I think I'm just going to have to live with it in short of (my solution) replacing the fuel pump, catalytic converter, O2 sensor(s?), crankshaft position sens. and what ever other sensors.

No, I'm not at a point of anything other than factory for now. I wish I knew about the trans kit years ago, but I will definitely look at the mounts.

Try cleaning the MAF, that helped my 04 gt's random misfire when I first got it, after new Delphi wires and Delco plugs didn't permanently fix it.

After that, I'd look at the cat, it could be starting to clog up; and the o2, those sometimes go bad, but still work "ok" according to the PCM.
