Got some weird stuff going on.....I got a 01 gt with a 3.8l in it.motor has 135000 on it...it all started about a month ago. first the car idles at about 1500rpm then i would be driving and the car would just shut down. It wouldnt die just go to an idle unless you touched the gas. Then it would die...and would not start for a good 30min. Got my scanner out and it pulled up p0101 and p0104. Basically MAF...when it shut down if i erased the code it would start right up. I replace the MAF with a ac delco and still the same problem. Doing some research i heard of the plentum(my spelling is bad) could be warpped or crack....got a new one and while i had it that far apart i did the intake gasket to. Still no help except ran smoother and a little better mpg. Changed the MAP sensor, crank sensor, IAC sensor, and TPS sensor..Fuel pressure is 51 with the key on and 45 while running..Did a smoke test and have not found any vacuum leaks. Found the car had a aftermarket remote start system on it so i removed that and repaired all the wires. Still idles at 1500 or so and now it only shuts down first thing in the morning after driving for about 5 miles. It pulls the p0101 code and i erase it and it is fine all day after that. Tired of driving with my scanner plugged in.....i am at a loss...hopefully someone can help

Perhaps the wire harness to the MAF is bad.

I'd check resistance between all your wires from the PCM to the MAF, and from the MAF ground wire to chassis ground.

Could also possibly be a bad PCM, but it's not very likely.

I got a new connector to the MAF and spliced it in about 10 inches back from the MAF...wires from there to the PCM checked out....been working on cars most my life and this has got me stumped....but i will not give up

scan the MAP reading while you drive. it should fluctuate with throttle input. if it is stuck at 14.7, check the vacuum tubing to the MAP sensor. I had a hairline crack in mine right at the sensor that caused a similar problem that you describe.

found the problem....it was a hair line crack in a vacuum line. When i did the smoke test there was not enough pressure for the smoke to come out. While driving there was and it was messing with the MAF sensor....what a nightmare figuring this one out...hopefully this tread will save someone else a headache like i had...
