My car is definitely leaking oil, I'm thinking it's the valve cover gasket because since I bought it you can sometimes smell burning oil after opening the hood when the car has been running. Since it's a fairly simple thing to do and cheap I was thinking I'd start with that anyways. Besides the gasket on the oil pan is there any other common places for oil to leak on these cars?

Intake manifold. Mine was leaking onto the top of the Tranny bell housing. Also the oil pressure sender check that first since its an easier fix and then head gaskets ccan leak but not common

But when the intake manifold gaskets leak coolant goes into the oil right?

Not often. LIM bolts will allow coolant/oil to wick up them and pool on the LIM when the sealant breaks down.

Easy test.. wipe your finger along the underside edge of the valve cover right above the exhaust .. if it comes back oily, you know the issue.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

There is the gunk that is on the upper side of the edge of the valve cover, I wiped the overside and the same gunk is on the underside. Is that what's most-likely leaking oil?
