Hi, I was just kind of looking over some of the builds on here and was wondering what are some good mods to start with on the L26? I eventually want to top swap but until than...

In your sig it says you are running Autolite 104s why?
A lot of people will tell you not to mod a n/a car.
Open cone intake - make your own should cost less than $60 when done. http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...ake-(pictures)
HV3 insert supposed to be best mod for a n/a car. http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...ke-Insert.aspx

Yes, I've been told on here that the 104's are too cold. I will be swapping back to the AL 606's. And thanks, the link is very helpful. So should I just start looking for acomplete L32?

I will say this bc i went down the road you are looking at going.. just save your money and invest in a top-swap... i modded my l26 to its full potential, everything you can do to a n/a besides a cam... while it was fun to drive, once i top swapped, it was a million times better lol take it from me the money you will spend investing into the n/a mods you can just put towards the top-swap.. and i bet you will just about match the two prices once all said and done.

... or you could go turbo instead
04 Top-swapped, 3.2 pulley, ZZP 1.9 rockers w/ #90 springs,Mild P&P heads, Pacesetter Headers, Sseilmnop 2" Phenolic Intercooler with stage 3 HE, ZZP billet fuel rails, 42.5lb injectors, 3" full exhaust, all poly mounts, other supporting mods.
oh and weight addition mods: CTS-V brake upgrade, 14" GT500 rotors

If your wanting to topswap then don't waste money on n/a mods that cannot transfer over.. Mods like headers or downpipe can be reused so you won't waste your money then.. Now the hv3 won't and let's face it it's a dead platform so reselling old parts you won't get much off of then

Staying n/a look at my sig, headers are lil more involved then a basic install though.
If I want to topswap the only thing id have to resell my hv3.
Edit: don't think my sig is working, I got home made hai,hv3,SDheaders,cat delete, 91 octane incar overkill tune.
Instead of headers could do plog/downpipe combo.

My local junk yard has a 99 GTP motor runs with 178K. Would I be able to use the L67 or do I need an L36 for top swap? And yes I was wondering about the parts that I would be able to transfer over after top swap. Also if I got an 04 PCM and went with an Overkill tune before hand would this affect anything?

If you put together a kit with used parts I would say about $1500 on the low side upwards of $2500 depending on the turbo. And a l67 would work but you would still need fuel rails and a throttle body.

Depends on whether or not you can fabricate things on your own/build your own trans, etc...

The transmission is where the money will be spent, not so much on the entire engine. I'd say half the price of the transmission would be more than enough for a solid used turbo kit.

Banking on the fact the average built trans will run well over $2k for quality stuff when it's all said and done.

Gotta pay to play, I was going to top swap, had pretty much everything for it besides gasket,
$300 for topswap, got headers for supporting mod so another $300(recommended for topswap)
    Fluids, oil,coolant.
    Topend Gasket kit.
    Pcm tune
Adds up quick. Even if you do it all right you have a moderate chance of chipping a piston after lol.
I sold my topswap and figured I might buy a l67 and just drop it in one day...maybe.

if ur looking to do an 04+ motor with 97-03 top swap s/c u have to buy a throttle body adapter plate made by zzp for the 97-03 gen3 s/c to gen5 s/c plate and once you bought it you would have to reverse engineer it cause 97-03 have csble throttle body and 04+ is electric and the way they bolt on to the s/c is completly different too.

ive got an 04 gp gt2 geting tranny rebuilt. ive abused it so bad and im almost entirly stock n/a only real mod is 180 t stat and cold air intake. if i had money id go turbo it can do way more for way less and id dump my blow off valve back to the exhast and make it a 4 door sleeper
04 GT2: 180 t-stat, cold air intake, reptile tune, plog, hv3, gt1 cam, 90#springs, new push rods, new lifters, port polished heads, lim, uim and tb, 06 Impala brakes and steel brake lines. Cosmetic: black roof rails, under glow, Pontiac ground light, blue hud dic radio controls and cluster. To come custom hood.

You would have to send the Ecu back to overkill and have it 're tuned if you top swap . They do it for free all you have to pay for is shipping.
Basic mods- 2.5" zzp downpipe, hv3 insert,a spectra cone filter from amazon for 30$, ngk tr55ix 7164 plugs , zzp 10.5 plug wires, front p log, 1.9 rockers and a 91+ octane tune from overkill. You could probably throw some magna flows on there to make it sound cool ,might give u a hp or two. Thats your basic bolt ons.that will give you a modest 250 hp.
