My service engine light has gone on and off for the last year or so (sometimes I have to turn it off with the code reader) I replaced the purge valve that is toward the back of the engine several months ago. Seemed to fix problem, then light came on again about 3 weeks later. Same code every time (so many I've lost count now) Where are all the components located for this system? Is there any online source for diagrams or schematics? I want to replace everything I can as the car is due to be smogged this summer. The car runs fine, just having the light on constantly is annoying. Thanks

DTC P0442: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected

This is typically the gas cap causing the issue. Try replacing it, clear the code and see if it comes back.

If you can do a smoke test if it has a leak follow the smoke if it doesn't have a leak as fordman said its the gas cap

especially if it's a walmart 10$ locking gas cap....before you replace it you can try cleaning the rubber seal on the gas cap with brake clean, as well as the filler opening it fits into. it's a free fix if it works...but small leak is typically gas cap
