Guys, what is the best type of coolant for our 38s? I currently just have the normal orange dexcool. What's the best cooling coolant, lasts longest or just is better? Also how do I do a coolant flush? I am thinking its probably not as easy as simply disconnecting the lower hose so if you guys can help please do. Thank you in advance.

I could do it for you. lol.

Or there might be a thread that someone has made, but I am sure a simple search of the topic and many pointers will be brought up in multiple threads.

I was just about to make a thread asking these same questions. I know how to do the flush, (or have a pretty good idea), however; I'm curious as to what you people suggest as far as coolant (Preston, Autozone, ect.)

You drain it and run a hose with water through it. That's how you flush the radiator at least.

And I pretty much think any like green mix with any color coolant works just dandy.

As long as you flush all the Dex out of the system you can refill with anything you want. I personally went with plain old green coolant and have not had any issues coolant related. Just don't mix anything with the Dex and you're good. And I wouldn't recommend running the pink coolant for Honda's. If you go conventional I would stay with yellow extended life or green.

I'd go with Prestone personally, but that's just what I've used over the years.

The G-05 may give a longer life between coolant changes being a hybrid coolant. I know some of the newer high end cars have it, as well as Ford and Chrysler. It's also priced about the same per gallon.

Prestone is Dexcool without orange dye. Doesnt provide corrosion protection for quite some time and eats nylon gaskets.

Hence Ford and Chrysler not using it and using G-05 instead.

They're all based on ethylene gylcol, which is clear.

So its just a matter of what dye they put in it.

Prestone dyed dexcool green and called it all makes all models.
