Just looking through my engine bay and found some things that are apparently useless. I'm wondering what all can be removed without causing problems. I'm guessing the cover mounts and the engine lift points, but is there anything else floating around that's unnecessary?

i would advise keeping the engine lift bracets in there for if anything happened to the rack and pinion, trans, and etc. thats just personal opinion. for the most part, everything in the engine bay is useful in some way otherwise it would not be there. the engine cover is the only thing there for cosmetic reasons.

I would be keeping the engine lift brackets, just think they'd look better off until they're needed. My engine cover was off when I bought the car but the brackets that it was mounted to are still there and I'd like to know what all can be removed. Just trying to clean up under the hood a bit.

Heck..if you have to hold the engine up..you simply bolt the chain to the head/block if you need to.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I think someone may have already removed the alternator brace- is that the rod that runs from the alternator to the coil packs? It's not there.

Just out of curiosity, what's up with these people with no dogbones? Is there an alternate motor mount or can they be removed without issue?

gp's need the dog bones, or else the motor will flop around and damage stuff.

the alt brace is behind the supercharger and or UIM IIRC

I assumed as much, but I have seen pics of them (on this forum, actually) with no upper motor mounts at all. They're obviously heavily modded, but I was just wondering exactly how their motor stayed in place. I kind of like the dogbones, personally, and was planning on getting some polished ones eventually.

Forget polished paint them to match body color. It ties then into the color scheme and done right looks great

Meh, I just ran the coil pack dog bone.

It worked fine with poly lowers.

Except my nervous system hated me.

That one is HUGE on mine, with the extra mount point. Covers half the valve cover .

And it's also aluminum...it breaks easily...so you don't want to do that unless you're running a L67 cast iron bracket.

Can they be swapped? I really don't care for that huge mount, especially if I ever get new valve covers.

Didn't somebody come up with lower engine brackets to delete the dog bones?

    Krylon wrinkle paint.

Does a good job of keeping most from noticing the 2.25" intercooler, upgraded supercharger and a few other goodies that would be very obvious otherwise.
