Change the pcv valve and valve cover gaskets at the same time. Should fix your oil leak for a good long time.

So, if that's all for under the hood...

I'm looking to do a little weight reduction, nothing major and mostly to clean up looks, but any advice would be helpful. I'm not interested in losing any features (AC, stereo, seating, etc) but I know there's a lot of extra stuff thrown into most cars that can be removed or replaced with lighter equivalents.

Take all the stuff out of the trunk except the spare tire and stuff. You could swap the subframe for an aluminum one out of a 04+. If your really dedicated to loosing weight unsafely you can remove the metal bumper supports but that's what keeps you safe in a crash.

Well, there's no spare tire or anything to begin with
I'm considering the aluminum subframe but that'll cost some money. Just looking for stuff to me busy and let the car look and run better at the same time

plan to bring the coupe to the cat scale at the truck stop once its running. (Dont hold your breath lol)

So far trunk gutted, interoir gutted, only dash center council door panels and front seats will be in. Still will have AC and heat, No sways, no bumpert foam, no side braces, and alum subframe along with stock flat 5 spoke wheels.

Yeah yeah I know hurry the hell up right!.....................................

Oh looking into lexan 1/4 windows becasue its pretty flat piece and 4x8 sheets are like 120 bucks from a local glass shop here can easily get both from 1 sheet which makes 60 dollars per side not seem so bad. Maybe Id have enough left for the sunroof.

I pulled the heat shielding from under my hood for cleaning and just left it off. Is that actually good for anything?
Installed new speakers and removed the stock grills, added the ones that came with the speakers. I suppose that counts as a little weight reduction

My stock airbox is currently stuffed full of stuff I've removed from my car. Must be a few pounds there. Just wondering if that panel under the front bumper is neccessary?

its not major, but if you go thru and remove any extra length from your hoses. shorten vac lines and radiator lines. make sure to leave enough so that if the engine rocks a little they wont be tugged, but every little adds up. If you get a tuner, you can remove your EVAP system and pull the charcoal canister. remove or find a smaller wiper fluid tank. swap to a smaller lighter battery. drilled rotors, swap to a single pipe exhaust, remove spoiler,

i dont agree with pulling the side braces and the foam from the bumpers. if your pulling those, might as well pull the air bags and sensors.
If your making a track only car you might consider the following: AC delete including its radiator, wiper tank and pass side wiper arm, sound system head unit and speakers, carpet, back seats and seat belts, rear bumper support and rear door (if 4 door) window motors and door locks, EGR, Evap, rear o2 and remove all wiring for them too, pass side mirror, swap to a smaller gas tank, side skirts and trim panels, hood shocks, cruse control, remove parking brake and hardware from under rotor. thats all i can think of for now....

Lots of good info, Pheonix, thanks!

I noticed during the speaker install that the rear seatbacks are very heavy. Is there a way to cut out some of that weight while keeping the seats functional?

If you have power seats you can swap to a std non electric seat frame. Or find a light racing seat

    Track car?

Would leave the parking brake for obvious reasons.

Anyone have a link to ABS delete? Can I just unplug everything and run the lines straight through or would I need replacement hardware?

If you want to get rid of the abs module then you'll have to hook hoses up to get rid of it. If your abs module is still good you could sell it and get some money back.

So run the lines from the reservoir straight to the wheels, just bypassing the module?
