I'm at my wits end...I have a chirping sound that corresponds to engine rpm's that I've tried everything to remedy. I have replaced the serpentine belt, belt tensioner assembly, water pump, have checked the alternator, and the a/c pump, and power steering pump. None of the components appear to be the culprit. If I spray water on the belt the sound subsides, so it's obviously belt noise, but I cannot find the source no matter how hard I try! Any Ideas/Suggestions gang??

Said he did a belt... and if you are going to recommend a belt.. make it the Napa Gates Premium. Damn things are like traction tape.

Is the belt fraying on either side?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

GTP? Two belts... check all the Idler pulleys, one of them may be the culprit.
Shotgunning parts at a problem is a %#$#%...

The Accessory Tensioner assembly, did it come with new pulley? Have you removed pulleys and made sure you re-seated them properly and re-torqued them? I had the extact same thing (chirp) and it was bad tensioner pulley, not saying that's your problem, but worth looking at.

    coolken84,

I'm sorry to hear of your frustration with your vehicle. You may want to consider taking the vehicle in for a quick inspection by a certified technician. They should be able to find the cause of the noise and offer repair option(s).

Please keep us posted! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

    No.

Useful tool - Mechanics stethoscope. Cheap and would help pinpoint a noise.

Otherwise, you could try loosening up pulleys at random. Or pull them off entirely, inspect bearings, clean, and re-grease.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

Dude comes in asking for help. You offer no solutions, but complain about someone that did. Even if "take it to a professional mechanic" is pretty weak advice, it's better than nothing. Sorry to feed the troll.

cooken84: Could you better describe the squeak or post a video? Is it cricket-y? Screechy? Whiny?
