follow the upper rad hose to the LIM (block), and there are 2 bolts on housing that holds the thermostat

Thanks bro! It just started acting up today. Like if i sit at a light..it starts to run hot and then once im driving..it starts to cool down. Im hoping it just needs the thermostat replaced, cause i dont see any leaks.

    not a problem

after you replace it, just make sure you bleed the system of air to insure that it dont overheat on you.

There is a bleeder screw on top of the housing that you open 1-2 turns and with the car running you let it heat up and wait for coolant to start streaming out of the bleeder. Wait till its a steady stream, because you want to make sure all the air gets out, it may take 5-10 mins but its no big deal. Then just close it up and take it for a drive to see if it helps.

Well...are you leaking any coolant? How many miles also??

But it could just mean you need to bleed the coolant if you've been fooling around with it. Sometimes people don't know to bleed it and it can cause temp. to fluctuate some.

Its not leaking coolant as said above & i havent touched anything yet. Just came back from o'reilys and told him bout my problem and he said it sounds like the thermostat. Car has 170, xxxx on it. Im just thinking it needs to be replaced, cause of the miles..i had the car for a year

if itsn't the thermostat, pump or fans or something like that...might want to look into your LIM gaskets. i know Austin had lots of overheating problems and it turned out his LIM gaskets were the culprit. but regardless you should already have these gaskets replace as maintenance.

    I wouldn't think it's a thermostat or LIM gaskets.

If the car cools when under power (more heat generated in engine) and has airflow through the radiator, yet heats up when sitting still. That would usually be an airflow problem. Depending on how much it's heating up (fans come on at ~216F and ~228F on most stock tunes).

I'd be checking the fans and fuses to them, as well as confirming the pcm is seeing the same temps as the dash.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So what happening if the dashboard is showing lower temps than the pcm is reading?

If the dash shows less than pcm, the fans should be coming on at ~216F and ~228F pcm temp reading.

If the dash shows more than the pcm, the fans should be coming on at ~216F and ~228F pcm temp reading

If the dash and pcm don't match, either the dash gauge is bad or the temp sender is bad. Our temp senders have two senders built into them. One for the dash, one for the pcm.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
