Well The title says it all. I got most of the parts I was looking for to top swap so soon I will soon...

Anyone know where to get lots and lots of brake cleaner cheap?

Also If I'm going to hide my coils don't need the L67 coil bracket right?

and aftermarket pullies? like the idlers and stuff?

What springs do you guys thing I should put in these heads?

and any tips or suggestion even insults let me know.

The l36 ICM scews dont fit into the L67 coil pack bracket, but i guess if you are hiding them it doesnt matter. my WBS L67 MAP extenstion didnt fit right so i had to take a dremel to my plug.

go to the auto parts store and find the clearance shelf. there should be brake cleaner there. Id also get some scotch brite pads for cleaning the heads. Get some red RTV for the LIM and put some on top and bottom of the SC gasket.

I also hope you have the differential cover if that is an HD diff.

Alright, Thanks and yes I have the cover... I have two hd trans now lol this one is way better than the last one I picked up i think i may use it for the rebuild and the other one for parts.

Did you just upgrade to hd parts on your trans? I see that you have the 3.29 gears was just wondering

Taz...sweet, I don't have to put any parts into boxes. Especially 862 . But then...no beer money.

The gear driven by the input shaft and the driven gear are 33/37 is the HD trans. When coupled to a 3.29 diff it equals 2.93. A non-hd trans uses 35/35 so wehn you put that with the 3.29 it equals 3.29.

FWIW if you are making power..the 3.29's are only going to slow down your top end and hurt mileage on trips. While I liked them..I also disliked them.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

That's what I'd do...you'd also need a GTP Passenger Axle since it is shorter. Don't get 2.93's...they suck.

maybe Upgrade the chain and do a gear set conversion in the hd trans?

I would really like to get a solid transmisson in the car but this transmisson project is way more expensive then the top swap I might take my time with the trans build it right and baby the car untill I put the new one in. By baby I mean talk dirty to it and make it down shift like 30 times in 10 mins...or untill something goes...

You know the HD transmission is exactly the same as your GT transmission minus the gearing and diff...right?

Just curious to know...how'd a shorter gear hurt your top end...when our 3rd and 4th gears are so stupid long anyways...I'd figure they'd help...keeping us in the powerband better.

Also, I got better MPG's with my 3.29's. They are also nicer around town during acceleration. I'm glad I listened to Dave on that one.

2.93's give you longer legs and bring down the rpm on the highway. It's not much, but when you have plenty of flow and power.. you don't have to downshift to maintain say 70mph up a hill. I missed it. Plus.. it screams a lot less up around 140mph ... uh.. yep. lol

Just think about the driving you do.. do you need a rocketship off the line (which breaks stuff) or to pass by jets and low flying planes?

The fastest you should ever really go is your trap speed.

so heres what I was thinking for the heads
    comp cams pushrods
    comp cams lifters
    90lb springs
    4140 chromly valve seals
    1.8 si valves

    What do you think?

I think you gotta go research after reading my post.

Comp cam lifters require checking and possible differnt pushrods cause they don't allow as much preload etc. LS9 IIRC are lower cost and a stock replacement for us. Buy V8 and it's cheaper than buying V6. Dunno why.

    Da what seals?

SI valves.. didn't those get a bad rep at one point?
