I have noticed I go through a little between changes, not a lot but, it still bugs me. Here are some pics from under the car. I also smell a little burnt oil on start up for like 5 seconds.

this is on the driver side.

And this is the oil pan area.

    Any thoughts?

That appears to be a transaxle oil line.

It is possible that any engine oil that you're losing may only be consumption.

That little drop actually looks like tranny fluid. I may take the car in and see whats up. I don't think burning oil is normal for a car with 74k miles. And also that tranny fluid leak.

Mine has 70k miles and a little consumption in between oil changes is completely normal. I wouldn't lose more than 1/4 quart.

Hmm, we shall see what the GM person says... I PMed them. BTW, that is awesome that they are on the board.

Just to hammer this home, I’m 100% sure that is a tranny line. I know because I check that exact fitting every time I do an oil change. GM apparently chose some bad fittings because mine leaks as well, just not nearly that bad. Make sure you check your tranny fluid level ASAP.

If you have went more than 75K without a tranny fluid change I’d do that now and have the fitting changed at the same time.

As far as you smelling oil I suggest two things. First change to a 5W-30 “high mileage” oil, what ever brand trips your trigger. And the other would be to replace the PCV valve.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!

Tranny fluid I will check.. and it was actually checked at the dealership before I bought it and when I had my cabin air filter changed. They said it was a little dirty, but thats it.

I was thinking about changing my tranny filter soon.

As for oil I use 5w-30 Mobil One Full Synthetic.
