Self serve car wash...dont spray electrical ****...
Then tire FOAM everything...let is sit for about 10 minutes...then wipe off whatever is left over.
Done.
Cover the coil packs, TB, MAF, MAP sensor, Trans. connector, and anything else electrical comes to mind. Just take a look at the motor and cover anything you can that has an electrical connection. Or just don't spray those w/ water and you should be good to go.
Wow...I just spray everything down with a hose, its all made to get wet guys.
or you could just hit all the electrical connectors with a shot of WD40 after washing it off. It's primary purpose is to displace water. Wipe up excess.....your done.
i purchase 2 cans of Brite kleen engine cleaner.
Drive to car wash.
Sit there for a little to let the engine cool down.
Spray everything with the engine cleaner
Wait 10 minutes for cleaner to work
Pull into car wash and spray the crap out of everything. (i do not hold back for anything)
After driving a little and engine is dry a spray tore foam shine all over(try to miss belt otherwise may slip or squeel) and wipe off excess
I do this every spring to every car i have owned for the past 10 years.
No problems ever and engine looks sweet
If you haven't done some maintenance, do it. Plug wires are probably the biggest issue when washing a motor.
I bougth my car at 161K, and powerwashed it 3 times. Don't pummel gasket areas and you are fine. Don't spray electrical stuff directly and when you wet the belt..expect it to make some noise.
I use foamy engine brite brand or simple green. The only two things I cover up in my engine bay are the cone filter/pcm and alternator. I usually spray the sh1t out of the engine and let the stuff sit for like 10 minutes or so. Any heavy grease I tend to use a rag or even a wire brush to help get the build up off. Then I pressure wash it all,use my air hose to blow dry the water out of the crevices. Start the car and let it dry the rest of the way.
