he's right. say you need 2 gallons of coolant.. instead of buying those 2 gallons, you could buy 1 gallon and mix it with your own water and viola.

iirc, and it has been a while, the mount doesn't have to come off. but if you're doing valve covers then yes i believe it has to come off. if we're referring to the same piece that is.

Like I said, I get it, I'm just used to doing it with premix and its not like I do it very often so it doesn't really bother me too much. Thanks, I'll try and get it off tomorrow morning without pulling the mount, had to give up for the day as I have people coming over.

Thanks for all the help guys, got the job finished finally on Friday night. So after changing upper and lower gaskets and the upper plenum, new plugs, cleaned TB, new injector o-rings car runs really well. Oil change, coolant flush done, low coolant light still coming on and off. Checked the level cold in the rad and the overflow tank and looks good. I am thinking with the issues and oil in coolant that the sensor has gone bad? Going to get a new coolant level sensor tomorrow. Where is it? I didn't see it on the overflow tank. Is it probable that this is the cause of the light or have I screwed up the job somehow? I was VERY careful and slow and followed everything to a tee incl. torquing all lower bolts to req spec in order. Anyways, any input much appreciated, thanks folks!

yeah. the coolant level sensor is common to go bad. it's on the radiator on the passenger side. look under the cap and follow down till you run into the wires.

    glad it went well

Good to know, picked new one up from dealer last night, holy crap, $85!!!??? That's twice as much as my e34 BMW!! Anyways, will swap it out tonight and see if that resolves it. I sure hope so cause if it's still leaking now, that's it. I am doing the SC top end. . . and I would really rather not spend the money on that right now!!!

no. if YOU know that your coolant is full and YOU look at it regularly you should be fine. plus keep an eye on your temp. gauge. if it goes up and runs hot, kill the car. you don't need a dummy light to tell you your coolant is low before there are problems.

All valid points . .. except it's my WIFE's car. She will be much more likely to see the idiot light than anything else. Regardless, new sensor is in and all is good. Car runs much better with new plugs, tb cleaned and no coolant all over the intake. Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated. Now on to f-body front brakes (after driving my '95 525 exclusively for the last few weeks and getting back into this car, these original breaks suck) and lowering.
