I have an 05 GP GT with 28k miles on it. When its warmed up if I just try to lightly accelerate it seems to miss or hesitate from idle up to about 3000 rpm and then takes off like it normally should. I have no idea where to start with this aside from plugs wires maybe MAF but idk with this low of miles on the car.

Plugs and wires can both go bad. If you want to try and narrow it down, go have it scanned and see if any cylinder has posted a code. Check all the plug wires to make sure they are on well and not loose etc.

Changed plugs and wires didnt solve the problem. Also I have found that when it happens it will continue like that till I shut the car off. If its happening and I turn it off and back on the problem goes away.

i doubt its a missfire cuz u would normaly have that at all rpms. you can rule out fuel pressure. it could also maybe be your transmission.

My 05 is doing the same thing, as well as others on this forum. But I haven't found the problem as of yet. I have no idea either, it sounds like a 2005 Grand Prix problem. One guy thinks it may be a bad pcm! Im ready to run my 05 into a freaking tree!

I bet your throttle bodies are dirty. DBW is really touchy.

Yea I figured it wasn't a miss but idk where to start. Car is bone stock except custom cat back with 31,000 miles. It's just weird that its so random and then when it happened yesterday I shut her off and restarted at a stop sign and everything was fine.

Well, I did take my Throttle Body Off in the fall and cleaned the crap out of it, however it still misses, chugs, hesitates-- until you shut it off, then restart it and everythings fine. Its wierd........thats why I'm thinking its maybe the pcm because when you restart it----its like its resetting the computer in the car. I'm at a lose. But if you figure it out, please, by all means, get back with me! Thanks.......

Lightly acceleration on takeoff or when your moving? I wouldn't rule out possible tranny problems. If you have have access to a diagnostic tool, try wiping your tranny adaptive settings.

Since it does it ..and resets. Have you scanned for codes recently?

It's only on light acceleration from a stop. It hesitates up around 3,000 rpms and then instantly it takes off like normal.

Haven't tried to pull any codes I may try to stop at my buddies shop and use his tomorrow. Is there anything specific I should be looking for aside from checking pending codes? Also, How can I check the tranny via the scanner or wipe out the data?

Do you have that problem on cold start only, and when the car warms up problems goes away. Or all the time? And when it instantly takes off, does it feel like its slamming into gear? Sounds like possible input clutch worn down.

It can be on cold start up or say after I stop and get gas or run inside somewhere come back out and I have the problem. Car only has 32,000 miles and I got it with 19,000 6 months ago from a little old lady so I would hope its not worn at 32,000

The one time it happened I was on my way back from a road trip when I stopped to get gas but when I got off the highway a few hours later it did not hesitate anymore.

No it does not "slam" into gear it just goes from hesitating to running perfect at 3,000 rpms and then shifts into 2nd at around 3,300-3,500 kinda quickly but still pretty smooth
