Hello my names Craig, I have a question about a car I just bought, I just bought a 1999 grand prix, GT, the engine is is no good, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a good low mileage engine for a good price really worth buying, and any tips I need to know about the process of the engine swap, like before I actually put the motor in, something I might need to change while the engine is is out and easy to get too, someone yesterday mentioned to me that they have a plastic intake, and they are bad for blowing a intake gasket, he said you can buy a up graded intake and gasket set. can anyone help? this is the first Pontiac I I've ever owned, P.S. this car is a 4 door, has a sun roof, and is a 3800 series, if that has anything to do with the exact type of motor it has, thanks for your help...

Morad parts is good for 3800 parts.

Morad Parts Company - 3800 Motors, Transaxles, & Stock Parts

Heres a good thread on how to remove the engine.

    http://www.grandprixforums.net/how-r...ion-35485.html

Or you can unbolt the two in the car and remove just the engine.

    You have an L36 engine.

You want an L26 replacement motor. It'd be the easiest route. Comes with the aluminum intake manifold and gaskets.

You'd need an adapter for your throttle body and switch around a few other things. Lawngoose has done this recently so he should be able to comment (or someone else) further on what needs to be changed.

Craig...check car-part.com in your area for an 04-08 Grand prix NA motor. You'll need to swap the upper intake plenum and TB. Recently I helped a buddy find a 50K mile one for $300.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thanks for all the help, is the difference between a L36 and L26 just the aluminum intake?

Thanks for the all the information, I just want to get the best deal for the best motor, and do this swap one time, and one time only, if you know what I mean.
