    I'm going to be putting a series 2 into my Oldsmobile with plans to go turbo soon after. I was wondering if i could use the L67 block (for the lower compression when i go turbo) with L36 heads, intake, and stock pcm. I know they'll fit, but would the lower compression effect the pcm? Of course ill be tuning the pcm after the turbo setup, but i was wondering if i could avoid the hassles of tuning while i get the engine up and running.

    I don't see why it wouldn't be a happy camper with L36 timing and much lower compression. It'll probably be gutless compared to the L36, but that's only til you turbo.

    It's interesting you posted this. I was considering something similar. Should be getting a turbo soon myself. Meanwhile I'm cruising an 00 GS. Thought I could prep for the future and get the leaky rear valve cover done at the same time. Because clearly changing a vc gasket includes a LIM gasket swap while the coolant is drained and the hoses are being replaced. Which probably leads to the 1.9's, springs etc going on. I considered it and didn't pull the trigger as the turbo guy isn't as communicative as I'd like and it's been too long.
