ive read that a few times.. resistor pack i believe everyones calling it. yet they all have ONLY 5 working, and 1-4.. and the resistor pack fixes it. im willing to give it a shot. we're going to put the car up for sale more than likely in the spring, yet i'd liek to get everything fixed first.. any ideas why i popped the radiator cap off and found bpwon mud/ sludge?? and the temps not rising the way it should at ALL. can drive for over 30minutes and the needle barely moves. i thought maybe the thermostat was stuck open.. ??

First thing I would check is the fuse. IIRC #5 has a different fuse than #1-4. So check that first. Then try the blower motor resistor.

As for the coolant. Do a flush and fill with new coolant and put in a new t-stat at the same time. Should be cheap to do.
