    So I had a fuel pump fuse drama a bit ago. Put in a new fuelpump (spectra brand – same one AutoZone sells, but $100 cheaper from RockAuto).

    After filling up, gauge reads full for days, then starts tocome down after about 60+ miles. THEN by the time the gauge reads empty, Istill have about a 1/3 (third) tank full of gas. I got a legit 2001 Grand PrixPump.

    Could I have messed with the float? Is there an adjustment? Ihad a hell of a time getting the rubber seal to stay (bought a second one asthe first one got too mangled) and that dang snap ring.

    For now, I just refill after I’ve used 13 Gals per theDrivers info center, but still. It would be nice to have a working gauge again.

    I think this is one of the parts where everyone suggests that, yes, we know it is expensive, but you should buy the AC Delco OE pump setup instead of the Aftermarket. This probably would have avoided the issue in my opinion.

    If you had the time and a tuner, you can recalibrate the gas gauge. You;'d need to pull the pump and measure the resistance across the fuel sender at various positions (full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 0) and then do a little calculations to determine the voltage at each of those positions (assuming 12V excitation). Then you could update the PCM table with the new voltage readings.
