http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...a-transmission you dont need a hoist. just a jack really, a ATV jack is great if you have one, but a floor jack or tranny jack will also work.

For $3,000 you can get a TEP "racing" trans... I'd stay away from that shop.

It sounds just like the issue I had a few years ago, the car would BANG into gear at intersections and stops, I was lucky enough that a shift kit and a bottle (or two) of Lucas trans repair kept it from slamming into gear for the most part...

I still need to actually fix the issue, but she's a trooper, still going after 3+ years.

Install the shift-kit like War said. For $40 and like 2-3 hours of work its the best solution if a replacement isn't happening. Really easy to do, but can become a huge mess with all the trans fluid coming down. Make sure you have a container that will cover the entire trans underneath to catch all the drips. Their are a lot of claims on here and other forums that the shift-kit will breath new life into a failing trans. I have installed the shift-kit in my GTP, but only to improve the shifts so it doesn't feel like a slush box. Trans was and is fine otherwise...

Look in the how-to's for the shift kit thread, it literally walks you through each step and makes it super simple.
