So, at first I thought my car was leaking some kind of fluid..I put cardboard underneath for a few days, and there was nothing.

Now this morning it's leaking again. I took her in for an oil change today, and apparently my car has an oil leak. The guy said it's a blowing oil leak, that while I am driving, oil is blowing all over my engine from the wind. Though he said he had no clue where it's from.

She has 163k miles on her. Has anyone else experienced this? I want to know if this is something I can do on my own, or if I am going to have to take her in. Thanks.

Blowing from the wind?? WTH kind of diagnosis is that?

Step 1: Don't get your oil changed there anymore, do it yourself.
Step 2: Jack up the car and wipe everything down with a good amount of brake clean...
Step 3: Drive it a few days...jack it up again...check to see where there is oil seepage coming from. Could be valve cover gaskets, front or rear cover gaskets, oil pan gasket...

Check the oil pressure switch. Its located right next to the oil filter and looks like a sensor with an eletric harness on the back. Mine was doing the same thing until it literally started POURING oil out of it! Its an easy/cheap fix. $15 at autozone. I hope that helps.

Edit: sorry, thought you had the 3.8. In that case not sure if its the same.

the DOHC has a problem with the infamous Oring leak. it is a port for when the block was designed for a distributor. the o ring fails and it is a PITA to replace. the best way to do it is to... well once you remove the intake manifold, and lower intake manifold, to clean the shaft as much as you can and then use quick steel epoxi or jb weld and seal it shut. RTV just doesnt work there. it will hold for about a month or two at most. i did the quick steel and it has held for 4 years now. the shaft you need to pull is basicly under the EGR on the block just under the rear head closest to the drv side. over on 60degreev6.com they have a write up i believe on fixing it. hope this helps.

Thank you! I have been searching for possibilities, and I found on another thread here an explanation how to replace exactly what you are talking about. This weekend I'm gunna clean the engine off as best as I can, find a trail to exactly where the leak is, and go from there. I have a feeling it is what you are saying it is though.

So, still haven't been able to get around to fixing the O-Ring leak. Tomorrow will be the day, hopefully, if it isn't too darn cold. Otherwise I am just going to see if I can go to the shop and have them do it next week.

Though, not sure if this is related to the leak, but I was going for a drive last night, and was going up a steep hill. I was going about 20-30ish MPH (can't exactly recall, speed limit was 25 though), and near the top of the hill, my car started revving very high (about 6000 RPMs), like it was having a hard time getting at the top. Not sure if it was lack of power from the motor itself, or if it had anything to do with the transmission not sliding into 2nd gear properly. This is the first time I experienced this, and it didn't happen again since.

My car does have the ABS light on. Sometimes my car will vibrate pretty bad. I can't tell, sometimes I swear it's my transmission, other times the vibrating randomly happens, after the car shifts gears. It's only when I speed up. Anyone know what's going on?

check your tranny fluid bud. if it's dark or smells burnt you may be right. when you described the problem it made me lean more towards that. could be torque converter lockup too. but i'm also no mechanic.

Hmmm, well, I am thinking it is indeed my transmission. I stepped on it, all the way down, and going into 3rd gear, my car was slow on shifting, then jerked really bad going into gear..it made my tires squeal. That time it was more of an insane jerk, not like the normal loud vibration. Im going to check the tranny fluid again.

Edit: Well, the transmission fluid looks perfectly fine, but it smells like rubber, don't know if that's normal.
