Please forgive me if this has been addressed previously. 2002 GP SE, 175,000. Silver. Has loud knock/tick when engine is started cold or has been turned off for a few minutes. Goes away after a few minutes and then everything sounds great. This is a recent development, within about the last couple of months. No coolant in oil, I checked. I've been all over the internet reading about the noises these engines make. Possibilities seem to be lifters, pistons, intake gaskets, and flex plate. I'm not into guessing games, just want to diagnose it correctly. Please help, or link to relevant threads. Thank you in advance.

Just google 3100/3400 piston slap. The 60* V6 is just a noisy pos. My sisters 01 SE does the same thing and that car only has 106k miles.

Fine don't believe me. The 3100/3400 are notorious for making that noise when they are first started cold, then it goes away when the engine heats up. I've know about this for a long time and I don't even have a 3100/3400.

Use a boroscope through each spark plug hole to see if there is a troll hiding in the combustion chamber. Could be knocking to get the heck out, after all its pretty hot in there.

Why resurrect this old thread where the op was being a tad insensitive to how the other users were trying help him then just leaves the thread when everyone returns his insensitivity.

Confirmed: You're a filthy degenerate with poor reading comprehension, and a hyper-delusional douchebag. Got it.

I'm closing this before more stuf happens.

OP, I know you don't like Mr. Filthy Degenerate, but we'll just have to keep our cool here and carry on.

If you still have further questions just search around first and post threads if you need too. Some of us are more than happy to help you if we just get along.
